Xbox 360 Storage Won’t Delete

Hey all,

So this is a problem I’ve had on multiple Xbox 360’s and whenever I look things up I can’t find anything. My problem is I can delete things off of my Xbox 360 internal storage. I’ll go to system settings, then to storage then I’ll delete the thing I want to delete, and it says that the thing is deleted. But when I turn the Xbox off and back on, I’ll go into the settings and storage and I’ll see that the file is still there, the one that I just deleted like 5 seconds ago. I’ll try clearing the system cache, I’ll try deleting it from the “all devices” list. But it just doesn’t change. Any ideas on what to do?

Could you please give me an example of what are you trying to delete?

I'm asking this because folders won't get deleted unless is a game folder, or profiles, but some other files are needed on the console

No the packs aren’t listed in storage so can’t delete them and if I try to buy them again it won’t let me and says I own them

Hi there, you're welcome! No please don't delete the games you have installed. There should be an option on Xbox series S as well to delete local save storage for xbox 360. Since Xbox 360 backwards compatible games also runs on Xbox one up to Xbox series X.

Try going to Settings > System > Storage > Clear local Xbox 360 storage this option should show up. It will delete the saved games locally but the cloud saves will remain.

Try deleting your 360 cache

Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage.

On the Manage storage devices screen, select:

Clear local Xbox 360 storage. This deletes Xbox 360 games saved locally, but they’ll remain in the cloud.

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Forums! We understand your frustration since Grand Theft Auto IV will not completely download on the Xbox 360.

Download problems can sometimes be fixed by deleting the Xbox Live cache and clearing the console’s system cache. Here's how:

On your console, go to settings, and then select System.
Select Storage, and then select your storage device.
Select System Items.
Select Marketplace System Data.
Select Delete.
Clear your Xbox 360 system cache.
Restart your console.
Go back to Download History and try downloading the item again.

If the download fails, try checking our
Xbox Live content won’t download on your Xbox 360 console. I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes
