Xbox 360 Steering Wheel Retrofit

Hi there. Ended up here in trying to find a way of contacting MS regarding the Xbox 360 Steering Wheel (with force feedback).

Had it for a couple of years and just yesterday (while playing Forza 3), something started burning in it with smoke coming out as well. Internet search revealed that it was a known problem and Microsoft was replacing some part in it free of cost. Can someone
guide me as to how I can get mine replaced? I'm in New Zealand.

USB Steering Wheel

Only USB steering wheels that are branded with XBOX 360 will work on an Xbox.

 

I don't know anything about a possible replacement but you can try contacting phone support for your region to see what they say.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the number but couldn't get through after about 10 minutes of staying on hold. Then tried the MS support number 0800 800004 too but there wasn't anything in the voice menu which I could use. Then started the web support
chat, from which I finally got directed to the XBox web support chat (Yes, they could've made it easier to find it).

The support rep then took all the details (serial numbers, etc.) The whole thing took almost 45 mins, but they agreed to send a replacement steering wheel without the defect for a fee ($40) which is refundable after I confirm receipt of the replacement.

Update, I got charged $90 instead of the $40.

Then today I received the steering wheel... turned out to be a "speed wheel"

After spending more than an hour with the online chat rep (still talking to her), together with a phone rep for last 28 minutes, this is what it seems:

1. Can only get the speed wheel because that's the only accessory available at the moment. Not what I was told that I would receive as replacement (doesn't have force feedback, paddle shifters or speed/brake pedals).

2. I am charged $90 instead of the $40 communicated to me.

3. Now they say there is no refund.

I have the chats saved. So pathetic... hardly believable!! Sounds like fraud.

 

Sorry to hear it. Call phone support and quote them the original reference number from your chats so they can see the transcript from their end.
