Xbox 360 Slip 4 GB S Update Failure - Can't Connect to Xbox Live

Hi, the first thing I would try is to clear any failed system update.

Go to settings/system/storage and highlight your storage device, press the following buttons in sequence on the controller LB RB X LB RB X, select yes to clear the latest system update and the xbox will reboot and attempt to update again..

If that doesn't help check how much free space your storage device is showing, there is a minimum requirement for free space of around 250Mb

If you can get to the dashboard it's worth a shot at resetting the network settings on your xbox to make sure things are nice and clean. That's done by going to settings/system/network settings, select your wired or wireless connection, then select configure
network and finally additional settings. You will see the option to restore to factory defaults, select that and then reboot the xbox again.

just spent four hours dealing with the same issue, with no resolution. an hour with chat and almost three with phone support. they can "repair" my xbox that was working fine before the "update" for $99. seriously considering trying the ps4. this sucks.

I've tried everything also. It's unfair to ask for $80 to fix an issue that's not my fault.

  6. Try to skip update, then perform some small file deletion on internal storage. Reboot the xbox afterwards. After rebooting the file is still there. That is happening with my xbox

Seems that update in Dec set some flag on internal storage so there are no write permissions any more

Figured, maybe give them yet another week to fix the update. As evidently on these maybe because they use a different CPU or mobo that the system is evidently corrupting the update when applied. I can get the 360 to download, go all the way through the next
screen of "installing update" but then it fails. Now with the code: 417F-42FE-1380-267F-C000-0185.Even tried deleting profiles. Have gone to the system files and deleted the corrupted files, and cleared cache of both the hard drive and internal RAM. Tried
without the hard drive installed, etc. But, someday, I'd love to have this 360 connect to Xbox Live and it needs the update to do so. It works, it plays games, etc, even signs a profile in, network test is good all the way up to Xbox Live, but then needs
the update. So I can't connect to Xbox Live. I see the controller code thing above, will try that now and the new update from the download page. The internal RAM (4GB) has 2.4 GB available. The hard drive has over 100 GB. So 250 MB is not the issue.

  8. Xbox 360 Slip 4 GB S Update Failure - Can't Connect to Xbox Live

Having the same problem, won't connect to xbox live to update, but also:

Corrupted files - deleted all of them but they return after reboot.

Error code: 4174-0000-0080-0300-8007-0070. Which is a error code for insufficient memory but I have 1.2 Gig available, plenty for a 250MB update. Even before deleting corrupted files there's 600MB available.

Will not save any game progress.

I tried the LB-RB-X (2X) and reset. I tried this with the hard drive in, (then clear cache do it again after a fail) and hard drive out. Tried with the sync button held, or not. Tried resetting network connection. Wifi through router, wired through router,
wired directly to the modem (resetting modem each time). Tried clearing items (2.3 GB available in system RAM, 128 GB available on hard drive). Tried clearing cache, and the reset of the failed update each time. Whatever I do it fails and tries to download
the update but fails (it gives a trying, attemp2/3, attemp3/3 and fails). Tried with the USB downloaded update, CD burned update. No good. The new code for these fails is 417F-42FE-A080-0F00-8007-045D.

Tried the fix the failed update, and everything else you could imagine. Clearing cache, deleting content. I have 2.3 GB on the system RAM, 128 GB on the hard drive. Tried the USB Flash drive (extracts, goes to install, then fails), Tried burning to CD (same
thing). Tried pulling the hard drive. Tried removing files. Tried resetting the network to factory defaults. Tried going wired direct to the modem (yes, resetting the modem). The 360 4GB Slim worked perfectly until the Dec 4 update. It still works, just
won't connect to Xbox Live, which makes saving and everything else moot.

  11. Hey there Kielgard!

I am truly sorry to hear about the update issues and thank you for providing us with the detailed information. Unfortunately since you have exhausted all troubleshooting steps your console may need to be repaired. You can request a repair from through
our Online Service center or through phone support from our Contact Us page. Once again, I'm sincerely sorry to hear about the update issue and any
    inconveniences this may have caused.

    Hey there OriginalEmu909!

Sorry to hear about the update and corrupt file issue, I can definitely understand how frustrating this could be. If the corrupt files keep returning after a power cycle, try to clear
    your Xbox 360 system cache
3 times. If the issue continues, your hard drive may be corrupt and may be in need of repair. You can request a repair by checking out the links that I have provided above. Feel free to post back letting us know how everything
    went.

status code: 42FE-0000-3080-0502-8007-045D is what I received after the handy dandy update. It keeps saying there is another update, but each time Inhit download, it hits me with this error. Also my 360 is running super slow now too. I'm guessing it's
because mine is a refurb from GameStop. Last time I bought a refurb item, it had farted on me with the same problem it was refurbished for... Really not in the mood to turn another system in again. Doubt warranty is good.

  13. Xbox 360 Slip 4 GB S Update Failure - Can't Connect to Xbox Live

I'm getting the same status code Omnispirit and mine is not a refurb. It's the 320gb Halo 4 console. It was working fine last night, my kid played it today, then wanted to play tonight. We ran into this scenario when we started the console back up this evening.
Asks for download, kicks our error, then asks for download. It's painfully slow starting the console or anything else on the system. I gave up earlier thinking it was Xbox live issues, but the site shows nothing related to this and now I'm missing 3 out of
my 5 profiles. I've tried skipping the sign in and other multiple things but get the same response.

  14. I am having the same issue. This latest update completely crashed our Xbox 360 4 GB; I got the error code 42FC-42FE-B780-0F00-C000-007B. The xbox is stuck on this screen with no options to leave said screen.

I called support and they had me do the same thing as mentioned here: power down xbox, download manual update to USB drive, shut off wifi, plug in USB, restart xbox. Went to the same error code screen. Did this process with a CD. Same results. Support told
me I now need to have my console "repaired" for $100. BUT....one support person I spoke with told me that this is a known issue and has been happening A LOT. So far, though, it seems as though MS is refusing to accept responsibility for a bad update rendering
consoles unusable. A supervisor I talked to kept telling me that it was my hardware that was faulty (it has worked perfectly for TWO YEARS prior to this update) and I needed to pay. (By the way, I was hung up on TWICE by two different support people).

I will be filing a formal complaint with MS. It's completely crap for their update to break my machine and then tell me I have to pay to fix their mistake. I just want my console restored to the condition it was in prior to the update.

If anyone else would like to, the address is listed below (it was a doozy to get...apparently they don't like to give that info out easily.).

    Microsoft Legal Department

    Attention: Xbox Legal Group

    One Microsoft Way

    Redmond, WA 98052

As someone mentioned here, I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB.

  15. Ok, just for the record, this problem is still going on strong. I have been trying for far too long to get this fixed. I first had the insufficient memory problem and finally that's fixed, but IT JUST WON'T INSTALL THE UPDATE!

I have troubleshooted and troubleshooted and still running into the same problem - same error code as the rest of you. I have a legit Xbox hard drive, 460gb of space, my internet connection is fine and it downloads the update BUT WON'T INSTALL IT. I have
been on Twitter with Xbox Support on and off for over a week, and they haven't given me anything new to work with.

I am NOT sending my Xbox anywhere, and Microsoft isn't getting any more money out of me. They made this problem. They need to fix it. With the money they've already made. This is getting beyond ridiculous, and this is NOT how you should be doing business.
I'd dump my Xbox S if I didn't have so many games for it, and new ones that I haven't even gotten to play yet BECAUSE I CAN'T UPDATE TO LIVE!
