Xbox 360 slim turns itself on/off and opens/closes tray

The Xbox 360 slim started to turn itself on/off and opening/closing its tray. I've plugged the console in a power socket on its own (it seems to have mitigated the issue, but not completely solved it) and removed the batteries from the TV's remote in case
it was causing interference (no luck with that).

Would appreciate any suggestions as to how to proceed. The console's warranty expired two months ago, so sending it for repair isn't (unfortunately) my first option.

xbox turns on the make a beep like it turns on

My xbox 360 slim turns on then off after making the beep if its going to turn on but it doesn't the CD tray will open all the way and close all the when pushing the button for the tray and then power button it closes all the way but the xbox doesn't stay
on. please help.

 

Xbox disc tray will open and close by itself

First when my Xbox is off it will turn on by itself and the dics tray will open and close and it will stay on. Second, when I'm trying to play my Forza 4 the Xbox power icon will blink and the tray will open then reset my Xbox. Third disc tray will open
and close by itself constantly. PLEASE HELP OR DO I NEED TO BUY A NEW ONE!

Followed the steps provided in the support article and the console continues to turn on/off and open/close the tray randomly.

The power supply displays an orange light when its on standby and green when its turned on.

Is it possible that there's some kind of interference causing this issue?

To isolate the issue, are you able to test your power supply on another Xbox console?

If it works correctly, are you able to test another power supply on your console?

Are you sure it´s not the power button?

Sounds like it´s stuck.

The power supply can´t turn your xbox on, it just turns it off if it overheat and such.

 

Unfortunately I'm unable to test the power supply on another console nor get another power supply to test on my console. What I can do is try my console on another TV and another power outlet in a different room with possibly less interferences (computers,
wi-fi router, etc.).

The power button seems to be working fine. In my opinion the problem seems to be the tray, since the console turns on when the tray opens (randomly triggered on its own), and it turns off when it closes (again, randomly and on its own).

If it still doesn't work after testing the power supply in another outlet, I suggest to
request a repair for your power supply and your Xbox console.

 

I tried the console in another power outlet (and another TV) and it still had the same behaviour. What's really strange and puzzling is that in my previous house (I recently moved to another place) the console never showed this behaviour =(

It still sounds like a button issue.

It must be full of dust or something.

The console turns on it self when you open the tray thats not a big deal but you say it turns off when you close it.

This probably means the closing triggers the power button.

You should send it to repair they can look into that.

 

I might have explained myself incorrectly. The console powers on on its own (I don't push the button for ejecting the tray), and it then closes the tray on its own too. I guess the mechanism of the tray is being triggered someway (and randomly).

I carefully disassembled the console and found out where the problem was: the ribbon that connects the eject and power buttons to the motherboard. It was a bit loose and probably caused contact problems. Have been playing for more than 1 hour without any
problems =)
