XBOX 360 Slim Turns Itself Off Unexpedly

I have a pre-owned XBOX 360 Slim that I bought from Gamestop. I have had it for just over 10 months. It was working alright for a few months, then it would occasionally switch off during gameplay. The unexpected shut down became more frequent and now it
doesn't stay on for longer than 1 or 2 minutes. If the HDMI cable is not plugged in it will remain on for about 10 minutes(as long as it is kept "awake" by the controller).

I have read up for solutions to this problem and tried just about all of them except for the ones that say to bang on it a few times and use a hairdryer on the fan, etc. It is not overheating, nothing is wrong with the power brick, I opened the console and
cleaned(with compressed air only) the sensor ribbon and I have tried all the troubleshooting solutions from the XBOX Support page.

What else can I do with this piece of junk? I'm going to see if Gamestop will exchange for another one. A replacement from XBOX will cost $79 which I don't have and I already spent $139 on this one. I'm not interested in purchasing another 360 as this is
the 4th one I have owned. The first, brand new, had the red rings and its replacement ended up doing the same. The third wouldn't switch on at all and now I have this one that turns itself off.

Xbox 360 Slim turns off by itself

Hello, I own an Xbox 360 Slim 4GB that I bought in late 2011. The problem with it is that every time I turn it on it turns off randomly by itself. Like sometimes it turns off right when I turn the console on or it would turn off after a few minutes of keeping
it on. So for my Xbox to stay on I need to keep turning it on repeatedly until it stays on... eventually it would just stay on so that i can play or watch netflix... But I still don't know why it turns off, like if it was haunted or something, the xbox looks
fine and the power brick is fine too, it has a yellow light when the console is off and a green light when its on. The fan still works so I don't if its overheating because I know that can cause video game consoles to turn off. I keep it on a wooden surface
which also holds my TV and the xbox has space so nothing is blocking or touching the xbox. I tried cleaning the power button with a ear swab because i know it could hold fingerprints which could mess up the calibration. This problem started this year like
around February and I'm sure it doesn't have warranty anymore because i bought it 2 years ago. So maybe anyone has any thoughts on how to fix this or if you have the same problem. Please reply

 

XBOX 360 Slim turns itself off constantly

Hi guys,

I recently bought a second-hand Xbox 360 slim which has been fine up until a few weeks ago.

Currently when turning the console on it loads to the dashboard and will sit there for maybe 2 -3 minutes before beeping and shutting down.

It did this repeatedly for about 10 - 15 power ons until it finally works and I can play my games. It then plays fine until I myself turn it off.

Anything thing worthwhile mentioning is that, each time the system shuts off, it reverts back to 480p, regardless of what TV I am using and the fact that the console is using it's HDMI output.

I have tried moving it out so it has more ventilation, changing the power point in use for the Xbox, cleaning the power button with a microfibre cloth, and deleting a previous system update.

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but whilst it was doing an update, my partner's cat's nose touched the power button, and being a touch sensitive button, the console turned off during the update.

There is always a risk involved into buying pre-owned, refurbished consoles for you are never aware of the way the console was maintained from its previous owner and its life expectancy.

Xbox service will not be offered for your console and you can't even ask for a replacement since you opened the console thus breaking the warranty seal.

 

Didn't answer the question, but I don't care anymore I've finished with XBOX. Going to sell it for parts on Ebay. Please close/lock thread as I will no longer be visiting.
