Xbox 360 Slim - Red/Pink Screen

Someone in my household with little electronic experience tried setting up an audio system while I was away on a trip. They attempted to set up the xbox to play through the audio system (some older yamaha system), but the audio did not work. So they unplugged
it all, and put it "back to normal." They turned it back on, however, and the screen had a reddish-pinkish tint with occasional horizontal lines passing through, and some areas seemed "shaky." The audio also does not work at all.We are using an hdmi cord,
and have tried using multiple different cords: new, old, and ones from currently working appliances. Still no help. So, we tried switching ports, thinking that maybe the port was broken. The old port played cable television perfectly, the new port still produced
the red xbox screen. So, we figured the xbox itself was broken. But I've tested it with another HDTV, it worked fine. I've tested it with our computer monitor, it worked fine.

I've tried setting all audio and video settings to auto, optimal, etc. I've held the trigger and Y button to reset the settings to default. I've gotten no red error lights, nor error messages. The console is in a well ventilated area, and has never had issues
before. And it obviously works fine, as there were no issues on other TVs/monitors. I've sifted through the forums, but they all point to "the cable is bad" or "the xbox is broken" and I don't think that's it.

You should ask what exactly they did cause they probably messed with your tv too.

 

They simply unplugged the HDMI cord from the TV and routed it through the stereo system. They did not mess with any settings, as they do not know how to do any of that.

On the console go to settings/ system/ console settings/ display. Disable display discovery, power the xbox off and back on again. What is the result of that?

 

Well. That just made it significantly worse. Now I've got nothing but a black screen. Tried unplugging and replugging the HDMI cord. Nothing.

 

Ok thanks for trying that, if you now connect the console to a display you know it worked on before are you able to turn display discovery back on?

It does appear to be some setting on the tv as the console worked fine on other tv's. What is the make and model of the tv you're having issues with please.

 

Could you power the tv off, remove the power lead for the tv from the mains power outlet, press and hold the power button on the tv for 30 seconds . Wait 10 minutes and then reconnect the power lead and give things another try.

 

I have a Vizio VX37L. I'll try resetting the TV now.
