Xbox 360 Slim question

So, I was playing Halo 3 for about.. an hour and a half. I have not installed the game from the disc because installing Halo 3 actually increases the loading time, because it was made before the install feature for the 360 was around. I went over to touch
the area of the case that is above the DVD drive, and while the area farther back was cool-ish, infact most of it the area just ontop of the front of the disc drive, where the tray comes out, was a little bit warm, moreso near the large vent on the top. The
front of the case, all of the area where the disc tray comes out, was quite cool, Remember, it wasn't alarmingly warm or anything, just slightly.

However. I'm just wondering if this is normal, for that portion to warm up after playing for a while. I'd appreciate it if other Slim owne could test this using their own uninstalled games, before replying, or if you already know if yours does or not, then
go ahead and answer.

Of course it is quite a bit bigger than the 360 slim, the original Xbox 360 was bigger than the slim, I'm sure it's bigger than the Xbox One slim will be too. That's the point of releasing the slim versions later on. But it is only 2.4cm longer than the original Xbox 360, which is what it should be compared to, not the revised, shrunk later released versions.

The load time shouldn't be longer with an installed game because the game is played from the hard drive, not the disk drive. As far as made before the install feature, that's irrelevant. The game is identical.

As for your heat issue, yes, it's normal. The heat is supposed to exit the top vent and from one side, which leaves the other side cool. For those standing the unit vertically, this is not good because the heat gets trapped (which you'll notice with dropped
frame rates, stuttering, or the console shutting down).

I would recommend you install the game, even if there's a slight increase in load time. These drive motors aren't the best made, and you'll wear them out much faster playing a game from a disk.

 

It is the only game I play unistalled, but it was said in a statement by Bungie themselves that it's not suppose to be installed, because the game is made to install on-the-go, in a sense.

 

I knew that it's normal for a lot of heat to be coming out of the top vent, and yes, I do have my Xbox horizontal. I'll rephrase my question more specifically.

Is it normal, for, after a good while of play using an uninstalled disc, a narrow strip of the side of the casing opposite the vent (but still somewhat near it, not entirely on the other side) to become warm-ish, and only warm-ish, to the touch? To be more
specific, the strip is where the front plate connects to the main portion of the casing (the upper side, when horizontal) it's warmer nearer the main vent, and as I said, most of the DVD drive side is cool. I know a lot of people would overreact to something
like this, which is why I asked for people to see if this happens for their Xboxes.

 

Alright, so I'm testing this again, and the area may actually be smaller than I previously described.
