Xbox 360 slim corrupting files?

Hello everyone,

First of all, I understand that it's a quite old system already, and I don't want to change it (all I play is cod zombies from WaW to Bo2, world of tanks and Minecraft, so I don't really need something fancier), and I understand it might be unsupported so I
hope that someone from the community can help me out.

Anyway, let's get down to it.

I got this Xbox 360 Slim really cheap (might explain this annoyance) months ago, works good but it has a lil' big detail that I need to address or to actually buy a newer one. What it's doing its corrupting my [mod removed] saved files. Had the story mode complete
on GTA V, gone. Had a beautiful map in Minecraft I've had since I was in high school, nada. The pain in the [mod removed] that is downloading huge files as the cod zombies' maps and WoT, rip. It "corrupted" the hard disk drive to the point that it would not
even read; had to format it, effectively losing everything. Fast forward to the present, formatted it, downloaded the maps and kept with Minecraft with my wife. Maps were becoming corrupted, again made a huge creation, map became unplayable after a while.
That happened 2 more times so I don't do Minecraft no longer. Re-downloaded WoT, all night because is so slow, a week after it starts not-working again. "Errors detected with your storage device. If this problem persists please try another device or contact
support. IO:0x0000045d". Did it again, deleted data, downloaded after annoying hours of download, and three days later same thing happens. No problems with the Bo2 and Bo1 DLC maps though, but I can't play both Minecraft and WoT... It already got into my nerves.

Any solutions beside ditching this thing?

Hello Brad,

Just went through there and "no corrupted files", so I don't really understand. Going back to the Minecraft example, tried uninstalling and installing it multiple times, changing storage even to cloud, and without success, the maps would become unplayable either
way.

Simple answer, your hard drive is failing. Fix? Buy a new hard drive or use an external hard drive. The Xbox 360 supports external hard drives up to 2 TB.

Hard drives die and before they do, they generally exhibit, disk read errors, corrupted files none working games. Hard disk drives are mechanical with moving parts, its it not if they fail its a matter of when.

Yes. In the reply below I told him that no matter where I saved the Minecraft map, it would become "unplayable" eventually. Tried USB, cloud, etc and nothing would work. Uninstalling the game and installing it again, nothing.

So replacing the xbox it seems, right?

Hi Karl,

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand having issues with a few games and the console. Have you checked for any corrupt data? You will want to go to storage and look through each category for a yellow exclamation mark. If a game doesn't work after
an install, try installing again. If your internet is slow to install it could be the game is getting corrupt while it installs. Have you thought maybe trying to install at a friends house or with a ethernet connection if using wireless?

Hey,

Ran some tests with Minecraft. Tried using a USB, map snapped. Tried setting up the "cloud storage", map snapped again. And files doesn't appear corrupted... on the original Xbox 360, the hard drive worked flawless--regardless of the age.
