Xbox 360 slim 4gb stopped reading all discs

My XBox 4GB slim stopped reading discs just one month before the year-long warranty was out. Sent it in, got it back, and it wouldn't even boot. Sent it in again, (there's a one-month grace period where you can send it back in for free after any repairs)
and it worked alright until just after that month had expired.

Now it won't read a disc unless I clear the cache before I try to play, and even then, there's a 50% chance it will fail and I'll have to try again... After leaving it alone for a day (or at least a period of time longer than 2-3 hours, I'm not exactly doing
science here.)

I very much regret buying this console.

Oh man, sorry to hear about that! How long did you have it back before you had issues? All repairs do some with a new warranty, so it may still be covered.

My little boys Xbox just now. Non of the solutions have helped and it says that I need to send it in for repairs. I have had an Xbox and Xbox 360 since their release dates. This is the 5th Xbox 360 I have had and now is the third to get sent out if I feel
like paying for it.(my very first 360 was sent out, sent back a refurb and that went bad) when the slims came back I never had another prob till now. I'm just glad that my gears of war edition is safe. But now I have a ticked off 4 year old who can't play
his games. What to do?

How long did I have it back? It was a slow decline and somehow it got to 2012, so 3 years before it was replaced with a "reliable" slim. The white one red lighted a week later and then came back again (but by that stage it was limping). Guess what though,
you'll never believe this, the slim is doing the exact same thing with the drive as the premium in pretty much the same timeframe. That to me says they're just as bad as each other, although on the plus side the slim isn't dead. Yet.

What happened to consoles doing what they're supposed to? Instead you have a tonne of videos on how to fix these things and Xbox repair businesses that fix what you couldn't build in 8 years.

I've had a console repaired. They sent me the same one back and that went bad again (though to be fair, I forgot to tell them about the disc drive, because the bigger problem was it had died in 11 months of being bought). Seriously though, MS can't build
hardware. At all.

My PS1? 12 years and working like new
