  1. Xbox 360 shuts off when connected to TV with power via HDMI, anyone familiar with this?

Apologies for the cross post, but I posted it as a 'support' post and there have been no replies, and it won't let me delete it. I am hoping it will be seen by more people this way.

    So here's the deal:

When I plug the Xbox 360 in on its own, not connected to a DVD, it has a yellow light on the adapter. Once I turn on the Xbox, everything's green.

However, once it's connected to an HDMI port (in any sequence of connecting and booting up) it turns off the minute it is connected via hdmi to any TV that is connected with power. (Even if the TV is off). Then the red light comes on the port. At one
point, I had the HDMI connected to a TV that was on a wall switch, and the Xbox was running with green, but once the wall switch was flipped on, with the TV itself still off, it immediately shut down.

I have talked to a support agent who was helpful, concluding it needs an update or repair, but as a last-ditch effort I thought I"d post to see if anyone out there had fixed this with any weird workaround.

    Troubleshooting done:

Turns off on two different HDMI TVs, when the TVs are turned on and off.

Changing the order sequence in which cables were connected, tv was turned on, etc, did not help.

I have removed the plug from a surge protector, to do these tests in a regular outlet.

I have done these with and without a DVD inserted.

It can't update it without a monitor to see the screen.

The only option is HDMI as it does not not have RCA outputs, and I do not have an HDMI to RCA adapter.

I have not yet dragged this unit by a truck or thrown it off the balcony but that is next on the list.

Thank you for any suggestions =)

    :)

  2. Intermittent audio loss from cable

I have two xbox ones which both experience their own version of dropping audio while the tv application is running.

System 1 - Cable STB connected to X1 via HDMI. X1 is connected to a Pioneer Elite AVR via HDMI. AVR is connected to Sony television via HDMI.

90% of the time I turn the television & receiver off while leaving the X1 active with the TV app. I will frequently turn the TV and AVR back on and their is no audio. Additionally, the AVR will show no active signal to any of the audio channels, when it
    typically shows 5.1 audio.

All cables in this setup are HDMI 2.0.

System 2 - Cable STB connected to X1 via HDMI. X1 connected to Samsung TV via HDMI.

In a similar vein, the TV is *** down with the console in the TV application. Almost all the time, when the power is restored to the TV, there is no sound.

Both cables in this setup are the cables provided with the consoles.

Audio can be restored after power cycling the console. The consoles are otherwise left on with the exception of updates. Comcast is my provider and I have the X1 platform.

Receiver (Homecast HS5101 CIUSB) freezes after a few seconds

    Hi,

i have a problem with my TV receiver which is connected through a HDMI cable to the Xbox One HDMI-IN-Port.

After a few seconds, the receiver seems to freeze and the TV stream is not refreshed anymore meaning that the last frame stays until I reboot my receiver (power off/on).

But it's definitely a problem with the Xbox One because if i connect my receiver directly to my TV via HDMI, everyhting works fine.

Does anyone know what to do?

    Xbox1s's keep breaking!!!! Defect or!??

"Hdmi cord shuts system off when plugged in "

"A month later my other xbox does the same thing plug the hdmi in and shuts off"

The console should be completely powered off when setting up or connecting the HDMI cable.

Once physical setup is complete, Turn on the TV, AVR if using, then turn on console last of all.

Xbox 360 as TV for snap

And the 360 works on the TV when connected directly via HDMI?

    xbox original

Though not familiar with Xbox One, I am a Digital Tech, Im sure youll find a work around.

    1. Connect old Xboxs to Windows 10 & cast to 4k TV

    2. Connect old Xbox to another TV & change screen resolution to auto &/or adjust TV settings to upscale to 120hz or change to Auto. Advise to update TV software.

    3. Reset HDMI connection.

Turn TV & console off & off standby.

Unplug HDMI cord from console and TV.

(Next step very important) **Physically unplug TV/ from wall power outlet for 30secs**

Plug HDMI cable into TV then console. Plug in both power cords to power outlet & switch on.

Then turn on console power first & then TV power. That may fix your issue.

Devices communicate to each other through HDMI cable. They 'handshake' when connect. Takes a sec before pic. If meet & greet not successful no pic.

Give a go. Let me know.

    Cheers. Btw Im Australian LOL

    HDMI handshake problem

On my TV it has to have a cable connected in order to cycle thru to that particular input whether digital or analog. Its not like the old TVs where u could just cycle thru every input when you hit the Source or TV/Video button. One thing i noticed on my
TV that was diffrent when the xbox hdmi port was working properly was when my xbox was shut off but still hooked up i could switch to the HDMI input on my TV that it was connected to. Now the xbox has to be turned on in order for my TV to recognize that a
cable is hooked up to that input and let me switch to it. Almost like there is no standby signal coming out of the xbox while its powered off anymore. Could anyone else with a TV that only cycles particular inputs that have a cable connected confirm whether
they still have a Standby signal when the xbox is off. I am curious to hear from someone with a console with a working HDMI port and someone with a non working HDMI port. My PS3 hooked up with that same cable to the same port lets me switch to the right HDMI
input while turned off so im pretty sure its not the cable or TV causing the issue.

    Secure HDCP connection not found.

If your 360 is working properly when connected to another TV via HDMI, the TV you were using is most likely going to need to be repaired. Do you have any other equipment that connects via HDMI to test?
