Xbox 360 servers shutting down in 2016 ???

I don't think the shut it down so fast.

WHYYYYYY?!?!?! can't people bother to read the rest of the thread before posting,especially the bit's that explain why they are not shutting down next year?

 

They can't shut it down. For 1. I am still buying games for it, ... when I can afford to... and 2. It's 10 years old this November and I suspect MS will celibrate it's 10th year in service with some amazing goodies and whoknowswhat.

Or at least, I would if I were head of MS Xbox division.

For a console to be around for a decade is one thing. But to still be in service after 10 years is another. Thus it's worth celibrating with whatever within reason can be given to it.

(free games, Free Games, FREE GAMES.. Umm.. 10 On Demand titals of YOUR CHOICE would suffice. I think?) - Happy B-Day too me.. Oh, I meant Xbox 360.

 

They aren't shutting down. At least shouldn't be. They never said anything about live support for Xbox 360,they commented on what sounds like game releases, dlc, and tech support. Nothing specifically about the servers. It's near the end of the year now
and they haven't made any official statements on that subject specifically, while still releasing games and content.

Also earlier this year someone contacted Microsoft support and they said they were not told the servers are going down next year and usually tell them in advance. Also today people with silver have been getting a notice for free online for two days, which
is a bit live bait.

Also they still sell generalized Xbox live gold cards, thatcould easily end in mass upset that would not only look really bad on them but also get into their pockets a bit.

We will find out, but the chances are very very slim.

 

I'm leaving Gaming altogether, if they shut down support for the 360.

I'm sick of being treated like a cash cow to be milked whenever some bright spark gets an idea for a new piece of tech., or a newer version of an existing game. I don't want more pixels, I want better games!

Forza 4 has just reached "EoL" and has been pulled COMPLETELY, from the marketplace. THE largest and most used racing and driving sim in console history, abandoned. I fear the 360 console is next. Well, due to MS shortsightedness, they have singlehandedly
put me off gaming for life! I've spend HUNDREDS of £ building my system and game library, and was looking forward to seeing these games through. BUT ....not anymore.

I can't see how they could shut down the 360 servers as they made a virtual 360 for the X1 to make it backward compatible, which can supposedly play with the 360s. So for all that to work, I would think they would need the servers and support running.

 

Which has been explained countless times already in this thread if you'd bother to read it.

 

The XB360 may be a technically inferior machine, BUT the games catalogue is HUGE! The user base is MAHOOOSIVE! We already have the machines! ...The XBOne is STILL too expensive to buy and the games are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! We live in a time of austerity!
..We have NO MONEY to upgrade a luxury item.

There is NOTHING WRONG with the XB360! It is STILL a great machine! ...AND a PROVEN ONE!

 

Hey guys I think this thread has served it's purpose. There is currently no info on the 360 servers shutting down. Best not get up in arms just yet. 360 still have plenty of life left.
