Xbox 360 S Wi-Fi connection error

I just moved. My xbox has built in Wi-Fi which worked before I moved but is now saying I need an adaptor. What did I do and what should I do?

Xbox Live and hotel Wi-Fi via Ethernet?

I need to find a way to connect my Xbox 360 to the Wi-Fi at hotels, considering I go to one almost every month. I have a game review due by thursday and I need to get this internet working. The issue is, hotels usually take you to a website where you have to log in on a website to connect to the Wi-Fi. This makes the Xbox Live connection impossible if you're doing it through Wi-Fi....

But what if I logged into the Wi-Fi on my laptop and connected my Xbox 360 to the laptop via Ethernet Cable. I have Windows 7 so I'm guessing there's some Microsoft internet sharing option that's compatible with other Microsoft products.... right?

in for a repair. However, there have been cases where this have been resolved by the end user, by unplugging the power supply for your console for up to 10 minutes and then reconnect Everything back again.

Is your 360 connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi or via an ethernet cable? If connecting via Wi-Fi, the MacBooks may be interfering with the 360's wireless signal. That would cause you to disconnect from Xbox Live.

What Xbox 360 console do you have specifically? Only the Xbox 360 S (Slim) consoles have integrated wireless adapters. If you are getting the "connect an Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter to your console" error, then you most likely have the Original model of the
console.

Also, who is your ISP, and are you using a router? If you are using a router, make sure the router is compatible with the Wi-Fi that Xbox 360 S' have.

(Taken from the consoles page) The Xbox 360 Slim model has:

Built in Wi-Fi: The new Xbox 360 is the only console with 802.11n Wi-Fi built in for a faster and easier connection to Xbox LIVE. Download or stream HD movies, TV episodes, and games from Xbox LIVE Marketplace in 1080p and 5.1 surround sound from anywhere
in the house (compatible with b/g/n networks).

If your router is not compatible/does not send or receive 802.11n, then you won't be able to use that router for Xbox LIVE.

What Xbox 360 are you talking about?

As using the console in a vertical position is your own choice, I always have mine horizontal.

The original 360 did not have built in Wi-Fi but a plug in Wi-Fi adapter is available. Whereas the later S and E models had built in Wi-Fi.

If connecting via Wi-Fi, are you using an adapter attached to an original 360 or are you using the built in Wi-Fi in the 360 S/360 E?

If using an adapter, is the adapter black or white?

If you're able, you should try to connect the 360 to your network via an ethernet cable (if you're not doing that already).

Also, you could try contacting your ISP to see if there's problems on their end that are affecting XBL traffic.
