XBOX 360 S - Says hard drive is not formatted

Turned on the XBOX and everything is gone. Keeps telling me that it needs to install updates but that there is not enough storage space to perform the update. Why trying to troubleshoot the problem I see that all my network & internet connections are ok,
but will not connect to LIVE.

I never noticed before that the HD shows unformatted, do I need to format it to try and access LIVE again for the updates?

Your USB is probably FAT32 formatted wheras your external hard drive is probably NTFS formatted. Xbox 360's can only read files that are FAT32 formatted

 

Downloading MP4 format to 360 hard drive or cloud .

Basically , can online MP4 formatted videos be down loaded to the 360's hard drive or cloud service ?

2. Select Storage or Memory.

5. Select Yes to format the storage device.

Looks like formatting the drive did the trick. Only thing lost was the avatars and game progress for the profiles that we're not already linked on LIVE. Thanks for the help.
