Xbox 360 s red light and shut off

The other day while playing a game on my xbox the screen froze for a second before going black and the whole system turning off, it didn't have any sort of error message before turning off. I also noticed that there were red flashing rings around the power
button but I didn't see how many since I was sorta scared and panicked at the time,it turned right back on but I haven't had it on since, is my xbox going to die? Does it need some sort or repair or was it just to hot and will be ok now. I'm real worried some
insight would really help

That light means that the Xbox was too hot and automatically shut down as a fail safe to prevent damage to the Xbox.. (Only on the Xbox 360 S) To learn more about this please review this article and also be sure your Xbox has plenty of ventilation.,

Xbox keeps shutting off.

I have an Xbox 360 Slim and it keeps randomly shutting off. Whenever it shuts off it dosn't have the red rings however the light on the power supply turns red. Any tips.

When an Xbox starts shutting down unexpectedly, it could be a sign that it is breaking or it could be down to many other factors, so lets not get worried at this point as you do not know what is causing it to shut down.

I have looked onto Xbox Live Support for any help regarding this issue, and have found an article that goes through some troubleshooting steps that you can try if your Xbox is shutting down unexpectedly. The link is here,

Now, in regards of your flashing lights you saw, I can also provide link for the Flashing lights wizard guide which will have steps you can do if your console is showing red lights. Remember, the read lights mean different things, so If you have 1 red flashing
light, it is going to mean something totally different to 3 flashing lights, so I will produce a flashing lights wizard bellow, maybe the pictures would make you remember how many light you did have.

Update:

After a day of letting the Xbox cool I decided trying to move the layout I had the Xbox set up in. I got it it's own stand away from anything else that was also lower to the ground then where it was before. I removed it from the power strip that it needed
to be plugged I to and raised the power source so it could breathe better. I also placed a small fan directly I front of it to blow cool air while I was playing. I had it on for about 5 hours today and I didn't have a problem with it at all it seems to be
doing just fine now

Seems like it overheated and shutdown as a safety precaution. Mine has done that before. You took all the steps you needed to resolve it, and corrected the issue. That's good news. Also, your Xbox will be fine to play for a long while again. Game on!
