We turned on our xbox and it use to be that the profiles immediately appear, today a message popped up telling us there is an update and that in order to do the update I had to connect to xbox live, but when you try to do that it says that we do not have
enough space to do the update. The problem is I cannot even get in to the profiles to delete some to create space AND I have enough space already for the update. My kids and husband are really mad because they think they have lost all of their profiles and
progress. I checked my console and there is not a hard drive in it to pull out and put back in! What do i do and did we lose all of our profiles and progress?

    :)

  2. latest update has removed some installed games

After installing the latest system update for my xbox one s, some games disappeared.

I have about 7 games, and the others were fine, but Forza Horizon and Rocket League just disappeared, and are now in my 'ready to install' list. From memory, Forza is a 55-60Gb download, which is not an insignificant amount of data to download! (Australia,
that is - 51st on countries internet ranking).

I have tried a power recycle of the xbox to see if the status changed but unfortunately it did not.

Was there a bug in the update that caused this? Or is it normal to have to re-download games after an update?

Is there any way I can get around having to download the entire game(s) again?

  3. So Um... What's Wrong With My Name 'Luis'?

For a while now everytime I try to update my Xbox profile from Xbox.com or the Xbox Live App on my IPod Touch I would be an error. Xbox.com just wouldn't update, and the App would give me an error message saying: 'Can't update profile! Sorry, that kind
of talk isn't allow here, try rephrasing!'. Curious to know what was the matter, I checked, and behold! It was my name, Luis, that is the 'bad' word. Just wondering how exactly is my/that name bad? I have no clue. :S (This is in the wrong forum I know, but
it's the most active forum And I have no clue where to post this)

If you have the 4GB console without a hard drive and it's telling you there's no space then it means the internal memory unit died. You're going to need to either purchase a hard drive and use that or send the console in for a repair. If they didn't have
their saved games in cloud storage then they are lost, if the profiles are Live profiles then they can be downloaded to the new hard drive/console, if they are local profiles they are gone.

  5. How much do the external hard drives usually cost? Does Reformatting help?

MSRP is like $120, but you can usually find them at a steep discount. You want to make sure they are official and only buy from reputable sources though, there's a lot of fakes. Reformatting won't hurt at this point, but it likely won't help either.

  7. fredgiblet is quite correct in all that he said but I'd avoid the "steep discount(s)." As a rule of thumb any HDD for under $100 and bought online is counterfeit. Any HDD that's not 250 or 320 gigabytes is counterfeit also. It's generally a good idea
    to avoid "used" HDDs.

Regarding formatting the 4 gigabyte flash drive; you may attempt to do so but generally speaking once a SSD or HDD shows up as "unformatted" then physical damage has occurred and it will happen again eventually.

I've seen them for under $80 from Amazon, not a third-party selling through Amazon, but actually from Amazon themselves.
