Xbox 360 S Hard drive swap question

I have 2 XBOX 360's. I am going to sell one and it has a removable 250gb Hard drive. The other one also has a hard drive and I am wondering if I can just swap both hard drives between the two whenever I want to play. Will I need to re-download licenses and
what not or should it be ok since it's on the drive. I am also wondering if there's some sort of USB connector casing where I can just plug in the hard drive via USB?

XBOX 360 Data

Me and a friend are trading xbox 360's. If we just swap hard drives would we have all our data and avatars?

360 Hard drive swap

as long as both are the same style 360 consoles then you just remove the drive from the one and attach/insert it in the other. NOTE: if you have different versions of the 360 console those drives are not interchangeable (fat drive will not work in a slim
model).

As long as the hard drives are for the same type of console (slim to slim, fat to fat) you can swap them without any issues. You won't have to perform a license transfer each time you swap the hard drives, but if you had purchased anything on the 2nd console
and not the one you're keeping, you'll need to perform a license transfer and redownload the content in order for that content to work properly. Any games that were installed from disc will need to be re-installed though.

There is not a connecter to plug the hard drive in via USB.

No it is my hard drive and game disc. The only thing that is being swapped is the consoles. It is my console that is having issues. It´s not the disc nor Is it the hard drive.

They are both Xbox 360 console drives.

One is from first gen and the second is from 2nd gen 360s

Obsessive Power

The X812848-001 are original 20GB drives from the first gen Xbox 360. Not only do they not fit the 360 E, any official 20GB
hard drive from back then would be knocking on 15 years old by now, which in in technical terms is pretty ancient. Hard drives are mechanical, they don't have long lifespans. It's not a question of if they will fail, it's when.

As previously mentioned the official drives for the 360 S and E are 250 GB, 320 GB & 500 GB. Don't buy a second hand one and expect it to last for a long time, it won't.

Note that the 360 also supports external USB drives up to 2TB.
