Xbox 360 S Hard drive issues

So I have a Xbox 360 slim and its only the 4gb so I got a 320g external hard drive and it's not working. Whenever I try to download something it will either get to a certain point then say it can't download or just won't work from the start. I've already
tried clearing system cache a couple times and I even formatted it but it still isn't working. When little things get saved onto the drive like a game file save they just get deleted randomly without me doing it. I dnot know if it's my Xbox or the drive is
defective or what. Please help.

Xbox 360 E Hard Drive?

I want to get an HDD for a 4GB Xbox 360 E but all I seem to find are hard drives for the Xbox 360 S. Are Xbox 360 S hard drives compatible with the Xbox 360 E?

So I wanted to buy a hard drive for my Xbox 360 E and I looked at best buy online and I looked for Xbox 360 E hard drives but I couldn't find any all I found was Xbox 360 S and then I saw this item that said it worked for Xbox 360 Xbox 360 E and Xbox 360
S then I read the description and all it talked about was Xbox 360 S so does internal hard drives for s work for e?

 

the drive my not be properly compatible with your xbox or not set up right otherwise i would suggest getting a bigger internal hard drive or using smaller external hard drive

Did you configure the hard drive prior to using the the hard drive?

2nd question: Does your physical location match the country/region on your account?

 

Can you post the brand name of the drive? Seagate drives are notorious for not playing well with Xbox consoles.

 

Well I just realized that j put external instead of internal which is what I meant and when I put it in the console the first time it didn't ask me to configure it and my location Is the same as my Xboxs region. Also I got the hard drive from Amazon and
it has no brand on the tiny box it came on it just says slim hard drive with the colors of the 360 logo and such. I don't know if it's off brand.

 

If it has no Microsoft logo on it then it's more than likely a 3rd party drive. These drives do not have the necessary firmware to run backwards compatible games and are also not covered under any sort of Xbox warranty.

I would seriously recommend returning that hard drive to the seller for a full refund and purchase an official Xbox hard drive from your local retailer.

 

Yeah i see how it was dumb to get it online at the price it was. i am returning it now so thanks for your help

Let us know if all is working properly when/if you get a official Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drive.

 

Alternatively it could possibly be Xbox Live. Sometimes downloads fail. It happens. You have to try again. Third party drives don't automatically mean they're garbage. You don't get support with them, and they could have their share of problems, but your
problem is probably Xbox Live. A lot of people are having the same issue as you. Myself included. I have a genuine drive. It's just Xbox Live.
