Xbox 360 S hard drive issue

Hello,

I have an xbox S model and I received an Xbox branded 320 gb hard drive from my brother so that I could upgrade and store games on my console (for my kids and I). He told me that he 'cleaned' the hard drive of all his games and all I had to do would be to
insert it in my console and initialize it, which I did. It was my understanding that you should only use the Xbox branded hard drives if you wish to play the older games and also there might be an issue with paid for content if you didn't use an xbox hard
drive, and that is the reason I was happy that my brother gave me his branded hard drive. I loaded several games and all was well until I purchased a car pack for Forza and the car pack would never show up in my garage for us to use. I called support and went
through everything with them and we couldn't figure it out. When he 'cleaned' the drive, could that have erased something so that my console thinks it is a 'generic' drive? I tried to play an older game also and it wouldn't play it. And if there is nothing
I can do about this drive and I have to buy another xbox branded drive, how can I save all the games that are saved on this drive??? Please help. I paid for this content for forza a long time ago and have never been able to use it. Thanks for any help/info.

In addition to Chriswaa's awesome posts, Xbox 360 S and Xbox 360 E consoles both use the same
Hard Drive. So if you have an Xbox 360 S hard drive, you can use it in either of those consoles without issue if you'd rather not use the transfer cable. ^_^

 

Xbox 360 E Hard Drive?

I want to get an HDD for a 4GB Xbox 360 E but all I seem to find are hard drives for the Xbox 360 S. Are Xbox 360 S hard drives compatible with the Xbox 360 E?

 

This issue is also stopping me from purchasing any more content from Xbox.

 

With the Forza problem, purchasing the DLC does not put the cars into your garage for use but rather it adds them to the store so you would need to purchase them in-game from the shop with the in-game currency. You do not automatically get the cars to use.

As for the hard drive issue, what is the Older game that you are trying to play? Is it on the list of compatible games?

support.xbox.com/.../play-original-games As long as he didn't format the hard drive using his PC and it actually is an official drive then the emulation software should still be there.

 

HomegrownSilky, Microsoft needs to hire you. You answered my question in a couple of sentences that a Microsoft tech couldn't help me with on the phone for hours. You are right. Those cars are all available to me now to purchase with in-game credits. I forget
which game it was, but I'm willing to bet it was one that has compatibility issues. Thanks.
