    Xbox 360 S - Freezes when booting up


    Xbox 360 S - Freezes when starting up. Tried 10 second power hold, then will progress to Xbox Splash screen and menu, then freezes if you attempt to navigate anywhere. Tried removing hard drive. Boots and can navigate. What next tried to enter support
    ticket; want me to send in the xbox? Also how to we get all content off the failed drive; do we sacrifice all the games that have been purchased and progression history?

    Dashboard is not accessible.

    Last week, I was playing FIFA 13 on my xbox 360 slim 4GB system and then decided to go get something to eat. When I came back and turned on my system it wanted to install an update, so i downloaded it, but once it restarted, the console just sat on the
    xbox 360 logo loading screen(it didnt freeze, because the ball was still rotating/changing colors). I then tried putting in my new 120GB harddrive that i had just bought. The console made it past the xbox 360 screen, but it still does the same thing on the
    screen with the two spinning white circles. The weird thing is I can press the home button on the controller and it brings up the menu, but if i try to press ANYTHING, it freezes. I have never had any kind of issue, but the warranty ran out about a month ago.

    Any ideas?

    What i have tried:

    --unplugging/replugging--booting up while holding sync button--disconnecting wireless modem and booting up--booting straight into a game--

    But nothing has worked.

    Start-up Screen Freeze on 360S

    So yesterday it worked totally fine.

    Today, when trying to boot the xbox up, the screen freezes before I make it to the dashboard.

    Tried booting up without harddrive- same thing.

    Anyone else having this problem? Did my box just brick? It's brand spanking new, less than three months old.

    Xbox 360 S - Freezes when booting up

    Buy a new HDD, I don't think support covers that. Even if they did, they wouldn't transfer anything. Buy a new HDD and a transfer kit, and transfer your info. Cease use of your dying drive.

    E79 is HDD failure. Buy a new HDD. Your data may be lost permanently. For future problems, start your own topic.

    Xbox 360 won't boot with USB external hard drive connected

    I agree that the source of the issue is the Seagate 1TB drive. The drive works fine with the Xbox 360 except for the first boot. That's what I'm confused about; the drive works fine when plugged in after the Xbox 360 boots up. What's even weirder is I
    can leave the drive connected, turn the Xbox 360 on, and when the screen freezes, leave the drive connected but turn the Xbox 360 off and back on immediately and the Xbox 360 will boot up.

    If the drive didn't work with the Xbox 360 at all, I wouldn't even be here. But it is only having issues on the first boot. This doesn't make sense to me. If the Xbox 360 recognizes the drive under every other condition, what is causing the issue with
    the first boot?

    How do I move files from a dead/RROD 360 to a new one?

    I can use a transfer cable even when one of the 360's is dead and won't boot up properly?
