Xbox 360 S can't connect to wireless network

My XBox 360 S wont connect to my wireless network, even though my other devices pick up the wi-fi, it gets stuck on the first stage of connecting.

Sending it in for repair is a bit of a drastic decision. Let's start with a few basics first. What kind of router do you have? Does it run a firewall? Do you have any manually entered settings in the router? Also, are you getting any specific error code
when attempting to connect to your router? Does your router have an Ethernet port and if so, does the issue persists when you connect the console via wired connection?

Internal WiFi is wireless N, the only advantage to having the black network adapter is to connect using a 5GHZ frequency.
