    I have an Xbox 360 console. For the past few months, I get prompted to update my Xbox. I have manually updated, performed factory resets, and everything is up-to-date according to version numbers... but every time I turn it on, I get a message that Xbox
    requires an update to connect to Xbox Live but the update is not available. If I run the network tests, I get out to the Internet, but the Xbox Live part of the connection fails. I have set up a DHCP reservation and punched a hole in my firewall to allow all
    traffic through directly to the Xbox, I have turned off all content filtering, and like I mentioned before, the version numbers all match the latest versions- I even flashed the machine using a good-quality USB thumb drive. As far as peripherals, I have the
    console, the four controllers that shipped with it, and the Kinect. I also have an internal hard drive. I don't have anything else plugged in to the USB ports. I am using an HDMI cable to connect the display. Any idea what my next steps should be?

    Error connecting to XBOX live and updating XBOX 360

    I need to update my XBOX 360 but I can't as it won't connect to my WIFI. I downloaded the update to a CD but it won't install and I get error 3F4A-0000-0080-0300-8007-0450 which I can't locate any information about in the forums. The XBOX won't update as
    it says I need to log in but it won't let me login as I can't connect to XBOX live as it requires the update. I have purchased an XBOX live card and created an account. Please help as I have new games I can't play as the update is required.

    Downloading of Xbox live software not working

    Everytime I try to download xbox live updates in keeps coming up with errors, I have tested network connections and it connects to the internet fine but wont connect to live as it requires a new update, and it doesnt seem to work.



    Any suggestions - have tried copying update to disc but it wont read it as soon as it turns on it requires you to update live to continue

    Hi there,

    when you connect to Xbox Live you are required to update to the latest dashboard update, there is no way to stay on an older update when connecting to Xbox Live.

    See this link for any other steps to try when experiencing update issues:

    Someone else said in this thread you can get it via a download from Xbox on the 360 itself. But I don't know if said download requires Xbox Live to get.

    You only need to be connected to Live, a subscription is not required for the update, it's free.

    Connect to Xbox Live, sign in, insert the disc and you'll get the update if you haven't already.

    The update is only about 6 MB. If other original BC Xbox games work, but not this one, generally the fault is with the disc.

    Updates are completely free.

    An official Xbox 360 Hard Drive is required to play original xbox games.
