    Xbox 360 recognize my USB but the update message still don't pop up


    HELP! A desperate girl over here!

    So I really want to play Kinect but the Update Required message keep popping up. The thing is as long as I remember my xbox is not connected to the internet since the very first time I bought it home so I tried to do it manually with my usb. It's in Fat32
    format and I've downloaded the update files and did all the instructions said. My xbox recognizes that the usb is plugged in, but I still keep getting the Update Required message instead of the Automatically Update one. I've tried so many ways and I've read
    the instructions on how to update using USB for like million times.

    Can someone help me please?

    Original Xbox backwards compatibility problem on Xbox 360

    I bought Street Fighter Anniversary Collection and I installed the latest update onto my Xbox 360 using a usb device. However, it still comes up with this message:

    'This original Xbox game is not supported on your Xbox 360 console. An update to support this may be available. For more info, go to www.xbox.com/games.

    CANT INSTALL UPDATE - XBOX RENDERED USELESS

    I'm having the exact same problem. have a good connection and and still can't download the update from xbox live. Tried the usb with Fat 32 format, the xbox recognizes the usb, but doesn't recognize anything is on the drive. I also agreed to the new terms
    online via my laptop and still nothing.

    The file that you downloaded from the Xbox web site needs to be unzipped (not copied) and placed in the main directory on the USB stick (not placed in any of the sub folders) for the console to see the update on the USB device. If this does not work I would
    encourage you to connect your console directly to your internet router via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable and it should then offer to download and update the console.

    None of the stuff in that link was really relevent. I am able to download the update directly on xbox and on to a usb then on to the xbox. I have connected to xbox live before using the same internet and equipment. The only thing that is stopping me seems
    to be the xbox not recognizing the update or something. The download completes, the xbox restarts, then the update failed message pops up. Ive downloaded it three times. I appreciate your effort though.

    If you plug a drive into the 360 and it cannot see a FAT32 volume, you get a pop-up when trying to Customize that says:



    The device isn't formatted, or the format isn't recognized. To continue, the device mustr be formatted, and all content will be removed.



    Do you want to continue?


    If the 360 can see a valid FAT32 volume, you don't get that message. Instead, you get the option to set the size of the USB Memory Unit.

    Did your 360 update properly? That is to say, when you launched the game, did you get a pop-up that stated "Update Required" ?

    From the sounds of it, the update on the disc did not apply. Go to System Settings, Console Settings, highlight Sytem Info (but don't click on it). On the right side it should say what Dashboard you have. If it's not 2.0.13599.0, it's out of date.

    I have a console that still has a dashboard of 2.0.9199.0. When I pop the Gears of War 3 disc into the console, the tile on the dashboard shows Gears of War 3, but when I try to play it I get the Update Required pop-up. If I cancel, I go back to the dashboard.

    If your console didn't update to 2.0.13599.0, try
    updating the console via USB    . I keep the latest system update on a USB flash drive for this purpose.
