Xbox 360 Problem: Disc Tray Randomly Ejects When Playing Games

I'm having a problem that's been going on for two years since I got my Xbox 360 Slim (250GB) for Christmas 2012. The first day I set up and played it, which was Christmas Day, it ran fine playing LA Noire. The next day, however, was when it all started.
Before I start, it's NOT the Disc Tray Error problem that lots of other people have had. It's not like when I plug it in it starts opening and closing constantly like in the reports, and the icon doesn't say Open Tray as reported either. This is a different
problem. At random intervals, whether I've been playing for five minutes or two hours (I never play my games for more than two hours at a time, by the way), sometimes the "ding" sound made when ejecting or closing the disc tray sounds during gameplay. This
will happen once, twice, or even three times, and then finally it will "ding" once more and the game will freeze, the power button light flashes, and the tray ejects, exiting me out of the game and to the home page before I can do anything. It's extremely
annoying but weird too. It doesn't happen all the time. Most of the time the console will run as normal, with no hitches, running smoothly. And then other times it will start up again, and then it will stop again, as if nothing ever happened. It's been happening
for two years now. I have never ever opened up or dismantled or broken or damaged my console. That Christmas Day I just set it up as the instructions told me, set up my Avatar and the console, and then I was off playing LA Noire, no problem. This happens especially
with the games LA Noire, Assassin's Creed 1, and Red Dead Redemption, but it happens most with LA Noire. When it does start playing up, I check for the internal temperature of the console. It's quite warm but not ridiculously hot, and I don't think it's an
overheating problem. I've not got a lot of games on the hard drive but I've got tons of space. This problem never happens when I play The Sims 3, The Sims 3 Pets, Zoo Tycoon, or Alan Wake. I don't want to return the console and I'm not sure about warranty
and stuff because I don't think the console is damaged internally. I clean it now and again so that not too much dust builds up around the vents, and I also clean the eject button and power button just in case. It also has plenty of room to get ventilated
and it's not enclosed in a space like a cupboard or anything. It does sit on my carpet though, if that helps. Any suggestions, and I am NOT dismantling my console to find out the problem, but clearing cache may help. Please help me, I'd be very grateful.

My disc tray won't open; have tried many things...

Seems like to me the disc tray is stuck or the button has malfunctioned. There is a way to eject the tray in case you get a disc stuck in the system. Here is the links below on how to do it.

My console's disk tray opens in game without touching or wanting it to open

In the middle of my games my disc tray will open randomly. I've made sure nothing is touching the eject button.

 

That seems like a faulty disc tray. My suggestion would be to register your console and ask for a repair:

I've heard of this happening before and it turned out that it was extremely dusty in the console and all the dust was messing with the sensors. Unfortunately, opening the console up to see if that's the issue voids the warranty, so I would definitely follow
DangerousBard's suggestion of getting a repair.

That way, if that's not the issue (or even if it is), you keep your warranty intact and you make certain that you get a working console in return from the repair center.

 

Me again; the other day I was playing it for more than an hour with no problems, then this morning it happened again after about ten minutes of gameplay, and it dinged once without warning and ejected the game. I've dusted it down again to make sure that
any dust wasn't affecting the eject button, and for good measure I cleared the cache. I don't think I've got a warranty; I think I either lost it or it ran out.

Getting a new Xbox is a last resort, and there's no way I'm opening up the case and trying to fix it myself. Other things to note is that my Xbox isn't directly plugged into the mains; it's plugged into an extension lead, in case you should know. This problem
has been on-off for two years now. I tried to find the solution online but nothing really linked to my individual problem. This is very random. It happens more when I'm playing LA Noire or RDR, but I don't know why, and it's not like it happens at specific
moments or times in the game, like in a particular scene or anything.

If it comes to it, I'll just grit my teeth and live with it, as it's an occasional thing, or I'll eventually replace it, but I'm scared that the new console replacement will have the exact same problem.

P.S. Thanks for your previous posts and suggestions. I thought I'd add another post to give more information about what's going on and some extra info I left out. I know it's a big post but I think it's important to say everything that's going on because
it can help lead to a more accurate problem and therefore a solution to a specific problem.

 

I've had my Xbox only a month and in the last week it will randomly beep, but sometimes the disc doesnt come out. My heart drops every time I hear the "ding". I have contacted support, they were no help. So random, 5min in, 1 hr in, just whenever it feels
like doing it. Sometimes it will ding four or five times before it actually kicks the disc out. Looks like I'm going to take it back to the store.

 

I've finally decided to get it looked at and hopefully fixed. I found a local console repair service and I'm hoping they can find the problem and end it. When I told them by email what my problem was, they suggested it might be a faulty eject button but
I won't know until they look at it.

P.S. My warranty ran out a while ago. I'd rather try and get it fixed before even considering buying a new one.

 

Another update: I haven't got it back yet but my Xbox 360 had it's front replaced. Hopefully that's fixed the problem. When I do get it back, I'm going to play my Xbox for a few weeks to see if the problem truly has been fixed, but fingers crossed it has.

Got my Xbox back today. It turned out not exactly to be the ribbon cable, but a piece of plastic that keeps the tray in place had snapped off and was resting on the ribbon cable or something. I'm glad I got it fixed rather than buy a new console. I haven't
tried it out yet but if that was what was causing the problem then it should be permanently fixed now. I'll probably still be jumpy and anxious every time I play it though because I'm so used to it happening. I just want to thank the guys who repaired it for
me and found the problem.

 

Omgosh YES this happens to me and everytime it does i tell it DON'T and hope the disk doesn't pop out, and wen it finally does i swear at it, I'm in the middle of playing Assassin's Creed 2 and it keeps happening, i don't like the idea taking it to get
repaired but its looking like i might hav to ... Bugger
