    Xbox 360 Power Supply


    I have a 360 console. I know there is mixed answers on these questions depending on the user and their location.

    Does the Xbox 360 power brick have a built in surge protector?

    Is it necessary to plug in the 360 into a surge protector?

    From what I have read some people said surge protector while others said no it is not needed because the power brick has something in it.

    Xbox 360 Power Supply

    I think the Xbox 360 has a built in protected for the power bar. But I will plug mine into an extension cord.

    Hello Facecard

    As I know, the power supply of Xbox 360 has a protection system to prevent further damage, especially in case of overload. However, I have always used surge protectors as extra protection for my equipment, whether TV, consoles or PC. It never hurts to have
    an extra coverage, but taking into account that surge protectors are not expensive compared to what you would have to spend if you had to repair one of these equipment.

    Microsoft always recommends to plug the consoles directly into the wall outlet.

    Decoy, please review the link I provided, specifically:

    PSUs are designed to be used only in the regions where they are sold.

    Don't try to use an Xbox 360 power supply that was built for a region that has different power requirements.

    Don't use an unlicensed accessory, such as a non-Microsoft replacement power supply or any accessory that plugs in between the Xbox 360 console and the power supply.

    Don't use the Xbox 360 external power supply outside the country where the power supply was sold. If you use the power supply in a different country, the power supply or your Xbox 360 console may be damaged, and the warranty may be invalidated.

    No. The xbox 360 slim power supplies have a completely different connector so those wont work with a normal 360.
