XBOX 360 PAL TO NTSC COUNTRY

Hey peeps whats up?! Ive got a pal xbox 360 4gb slim and im looking to go home (in the caribbean) which is a Ntsc region. Im looking to bring my xbox 360 as im

going for a good while. Im wondering what the requirements are (TV, power supply etc) for playing my game back home.Ill be playing on a standard tv with the RCA connections, so does that mean black and white picture whilst playing my games. Any help appreciated.

also, dont get NTSC/PAL and region free confused. NTSC/PAL is the video signal/resolution, Region codes keep media on a certain continent/country.

 

Who has a Limited Xbox 360 console and what are your thoughts.

i have the halo 3 us ntsc console,

halo reach us ntsc console,

resident evil pal console,

mw2 pal console,

gow 3 pal console,

mw3 pal console and waiting for the star wars us ntsc to arrive from the states

also a japanese 360 launch xbox 360 still going strong

 

I'd suggest a power converter instead of buying a new power supply for the machine - the power components inside your console are manufactured to the power standard of the place it's meant to be sold, so buying a power supply that's friendly with the outlets
of where you want to go could damage the console. As for TV, if your 360 can accept one of these (www.amazon.com/.../B000B6MLPU), buy that. If not, well,
you have to find an HDMI compatible TV.

The thing is PAL is 25 fps while NTSC is something about 29,98fps so you won't be able to play NTSC games on your PAL xbox

Not true. The internal components inside the Xbox 360 console are almost exactly the same the world over. The reason for the 'almost exactly' is the inclusion of a hardware region lock out. Not all Xbox 360 games are coded to read this lock out however and
are therefor region free. There is a list here
http://gaming.wikia.com/wiki/Region_Free_Xbox_360_Games. The only part of the console which is manufactured to accept region specific power sources is the PSU brick. The brick is available in either 110V or 240V. So if you have a U.S console, it is possible
to change its PSU from a 110V unit to a 240V. Once you have the correct power supply, the console will function normally, no matter what part of the world it is located in.

Such a comparison doesn't apply to video games systems. Hi definition games consoles have done away with difference in frame rates and refresh rates between PAL and NTSC. HDMI and Component HD refresh at 60Hz in both PAL and NTSC. NTSC games no longer run
faster than PAL software.

The region lock outs are coded into the games. Many Xbox 360 games are region free and will run fine on any 360 console. You can play North American games on a PAL console if the game is region free. There are no technical limitations.

 

Alright, just tought PAL xbox 360's were unable to read/play NTSC games and vice versa but you made a valid point about how a lot of games are not region locked which I forgot about on the 360

 

The region locks technically aren't even NTSC/PAL locks because such a differential does not exist within the console. The games are just coded with a region lock. When a region locked game is loaded on a console from another region, it will display an
error message. If a game is region free, it does not look for what region the console comes from and continues to run. The region lock outs for Xbox 360 games these days are down to the publishers, nothing more.

Xbox One on the other hand has no regional lock outs at all for disc games. You can play any Xbox One game on any Xbox One console. There are certain region locks for downloads, but that has nothing to do with NTSC and PAL.
