Xbox 360(original) 2 red rings problem appearing years after having RROD fixed by Microsoft

Hello,

I've had my xbox since 2009. Around 2011 I had it picked up by Microsoft in order to fix the 3 red rings problem. About a year ago it started showing again flashing rings but this time it was only two. I've kept in the same place for years and it is not very
hot when it shuts down after the 2 rings. It shuts down more and more often and in less than half an hour after turning it on?

It there something that can be done? I would like to keep my 360 since Xbox one is not backwards compatible with my Xbox 360 games.

360 Elite is flashing a red light and nothing is displaying on screen

When you say flashing red light, what do you mean exactly. There is a difference between 3 red lights and the entire ring flashing. The 3 red lights means you have the RROD and the 360 is toast. However, if it's the entire ring, then it's your video cable.

Edit: I didn't fully read your post. Yah you need to get it serviced unfortunately. However, contact Microsoft, they may be able to fix it for you cheap.

I preferred the 360. It lacked the magic of the original Xbox, but it was the better console. Both the original and the 360 red ring'd too often for my liking. I gave Microsoft a pass when it came to the original since they were young in console gaming and sloppy craftsmanship gets the pass on your first go around and just had it fixed.

Then 360 came and with it, the red ring.

that Xbox One does support some
Backward Compatibility games. We're always adding more games to the Backward Compatibility list!

If you're still having troubles despite going through the troubleshooter article, we recommend getting an Xbox 360 console replacement if you're not under warranty.

the 2 rings means it is overheating. you can get the secondary error code (more detailed info) by holding in the sync button and pressing eject. each time you press eject it will change the number of flashing lights and they should be going faster as well.
4411 means the CPU is overheating, 4412 means the GPU, and 4413 means it's the RAM. that info may be helpful if you decided to take it somewhere other than MS for service, in the case that you are no longer covered by warranty. you could also look and see
if the fans are spinning in the back or if it seems very dusty inside. sometimes the fans can become obstructed. just using a can of air duster may help, as it is against the forum guidelines to recommend users open their own console. also sometimes the
heat sink compound gets old and dried and needs replaced, but you'd probably need to take it to a repair service for that issue.

I had the same problem with mine (while I was trying to finish the Mass Effect series). It has been fixed for RROD, and after, sat in the same place for years. I then experienced the same problem you described of shorter and shorter game time.

The fix that worked for me was to change it's position. Mine was originally positioned on its side on a very slender box so I could keep all vent holes exposed. After the problems,
I blew the dust out with canned air and stood it up on its end and I haven't had a problem since, which has been over a year now. I don't know what you have tried, but I thought I'd share what fixed my Xbox in hopes you or someone else can
save theirs.

I had opened it to clean it but it was pretty much clean and it didn't solve the problem. Since my xbox was not covered by warranty I replaced the thermal paste by my own as shown in some fixes or the RROD. I've played five days for 3-4 hours/day and no
problem so far.
