Yes, the controller would still have that 90 day warranty.

Warranty Xbox 360 controller?

Hi!

I bought a new xbox 360 controller on Amazon 4 months ago (the wire one), but it's unfortnunatly not working well, I think there is a connection problem between the controller and the wire, it just comes and goes for no obvious reasons (cannot see anything
damaged, etc....) I went to the Amazon website, but can't apparently claim any warranty on their side. When I bought it, it came with a "1 Year constuctor warranty" so I was wondering who to contact to get help with fixing it or getting it replaced?

The warranty for xbox controllers is 90 days.

Really? I live in Greece and every online shop here has them with one year warranty.

This is the xbox forums and we can offer info only of the warranty conditions offered by Microsoft:

support.xbox.com/.../console-kinect-warranty

Topic 1 section g:"Warranty Period" for Xbox One means 1 year from the date You purchased it; and for Accessories, means 90 days from the date You purchased it"

For the conditions offered by the third part retailers you should contact them directly.

Also, the old xbox controllers have a different button scheme than the 360 so I do not believe it would work.

It's not just that. The original XBOX controller is essentially a USB hub with three downstream devices - two MU slots
and the controller itself.

Not sure why he'd want to use a 360 controller with an original XBOX. S-type XBOX controllers are pretty common and less expensive than a wired 360 controller.
