    Xbox 360 not displaying as device on Windows 8.1


    My Xbox 360 is not showing up as a device on my Windows 8.1 PC. Both machines are hard wired to my home network.

    It did show up back when I had Windows 7.

    Cannot play music to XBOX 360 through XBOX Music App

    PC Settings -> PC & Devices -> Devices, XBOX 360 is listed as a Play device. As an incidental, I am also having the same problem with XBOX Music app on my Surface RT Running 8.1 as well. Not sure what other troubleshooting steps I can take at this point.

    XBox One Wireless Adapter Driver (BSOD)

    In addition drivers for the wireless network adapter for Windows 7,8 and 8.1 have been released (available at the same link or via Windows update). Please note that audio, peripheral devices or firmware update is not supported on Windows 7,8 or 8.1, only
    on Windows 10.

    Never mind - The Xbox was named incorrectly. Changed the name in Xbox settings, and everything worked fine.

    In Windows 8.1 (and perhaps 8) Xbox 360 wireless receiver is one of the devices you can select; i.e. the driver is built-in. Select it and your eBay purchase should start working ;)

    No System Video Player on Xbox One?

    Xbox One is DNA and PlayReady compliant so you should be able to use applications that support these protocols to stream from your PC. In addition, Windows 8.1 directly supports playing video to the Xbox One using the Devices Charm. (Charms bar > Devices
    > Play > Choose Xbox One). You must be in a video application on Windows 8.1 in order to work. This does not function with Desktop applications or previous versions of Windows. There are probably other applications out there that can enable this functionality
    for non-Windows 8.1 operating systems.
