  1. Xbox 360 not detecting INTERNAL hard drive. But when plugged into pc (using transfer cable) ...

So I have a classic xbox 360 with minimum internal storage (I had to delete almost everything to install GTA5 ). So I just bought a second hand 120gb xbox internal hard drive to replace. I bought a transfer cable to allow me to transfer everything across.

When I looked at the 120gb hard drive and formatted it it only allowed 32gb (as if it is an external hard drive) but it is not, it is a xbox 360 plug into the top style of hard drive. So I thought that it would try and sort that issue out as I am not wasting
88gb of hard drive. So I used the transfer cable to back up my old hard drive (with years upon years of gaming game saves on) but I did this on my pc using software provided with the cable .

Now when I plug my old hard drive back into the top of my xbox it cannot detect it. Tried this multiple times , turning off and on, trying to unplug everything etc.

So while panicking I plugged the old hard drive back into the pc and checked file names against the back up (took a very long time) and all seemed okay. So tried again with no luck. Then I used the back up on the hard drive. But it still will not detect
    on my 360 .

Please if anyone can offer some help I would be very grateful. I just fear that I have lost everything.

I have messaged xbox support multiple times on social media websites but had no replies.

    Many thanks!

    :)

  2. Help with Hard drive transfer

I have an older 360 with a 10GB hard drive I just bought a 120GB hard drive and tried to transfer the data. All drives and transfer cable are Microsoft, I plugged new hard drive into 360 then plugged transfer cable in xbox then plugged in the old drive to
    the cable.

I got the message asking if I want to transfer data I selected start and it started to transfer, but it only moved a few files. It gave a message "some data was unable to transfer" or something like that. It only moved less than 1GB of data. What am I doing
wrong? Id hate to lose all my saved games.

    Thanks

  3. How to transfer everything from the Halo console to the GOW3 Console?

The data transfer cable will not plug into the Halo hard drive. The transfer cable evidently cannot tranfer dater from a console with an internal hard drive to another console with an internal hard drive. I will have to transfer my data to an older external
hard drive, then transfer it to the Gears console. I just hope I do not lose any data.

Xbox 360 not detecting INTERNAL hard drive. But when plugged into pc (using transfer cable) ...

sounds like you used a 3rd party hard drive transfer cables you just turned your 120 gig into a 32 gig flash drive and it is irreversible that drive can never be used for a 360 hard drive you will have to buy a new hard drive.

  5. Ah really ? So basically I have lost everything then. Isn't there anyway to format it and use my back up on my pc to transfer it across?

Also how do I make my NEW 120gb hard drive 120gb and not 32gb?

Thank you for the message though!

  6. You can't. It's done. You will need to buy a new drive if you wish to have more than 32gb of space. Also, xbox files are not meant to be read on a PC. I believe that they be come corrupted and can no longer be used. An official xbox transfer cable will
not ask you to configure your drive.

    Hard drive not recognised

Hm, if i put the hard drive in the data transfer cable and then put the cable into my Xbox, it detects the hard drive as if it's actually plugged in itself, but if i remove the cable it says there's nothing detected. Strange.

    HDD data transfer problem. HELP!!!

When you transferred the content over to the new hard drive, did you have the old or new hard drive plugged into the transfer cable?

If you had the 120GB hard drive plugged into the transfer cable that may be where the issue is being caused, would you be able to transfer the data back to the 20GB hard drive, plug the 120GB hard drive into your console, format it then try transferring
the data back to the 120GB hard drive with the 20GB hard drive plugged into the transfer cable and the 120GB hard drive plugged into the console.

Scroll down and follow the "Format a storage device":
    support.xbox.com/.../storage

Let us know how it goes!

    Hard drive issue

    Hello,

Sorry, there wouldn't be a way you'd be able to get these hard drives to be detected in the console again. The Xbox 360 console will only read the hard drives that are in a very specific file system structure, something that the 3rd party transfer cable more
than likely messed up when you plugged it in. Those hard drives are essentially paper weights due to that.

    Hard drive not recognised

If you put the hard drives into the hard drive slot on the Xbox, is it detected then? Or is it only unrecognised when connected to a transfer cable?
