Xbox 360 Netflix kinect commands not working

Can't seem to find the answered thread to previous posts about this issue. My kinect voice commands for the Xbox 360 work 100% everywhere else but in the Netflix app (which is pretty much the only place I really, truly use them). Is there a fix for this
yet?

Is Kinect not supported on the Xbox 360 any more?

I have recently acquired an Xbox 360 and a Kinect - everything seems to work fine and voice commands are recognised on the dash and in the Amazon & Wuaki apps. But nothing happens when I try voice commands in Netflix - there's no
command list and no response to Xbox play/pause. Is this a fault or does the Xbox 360 Netflix app not support Kinect any more?

 

Xbox One voice commands through smartphone?

The Xbox One I've bought was not bundled with Kinect. I had Kinect in Xbox 360 and I think it was a waste of money, so I didn't want it with my XBO. The only thing I miss are the voice commands, although my Media Remote works great for Netflix and Youtube.

But I'm wondering if it's possible to give voice commands for Xbox through a smartphone. Is it possible? If so, is any smartphone fit for the job or does it have to be a Windows Phone?

With the Xbox Update in August, we brought more of Windows to Xbox. This has the long term benefit of having apps work on all of your devices, but it did make some changes to how speech works on the Xbox console by moving away from Kinect based voice commands
(which requires purchasing additional hardware) and building speech commands with Cortana.

For our first release using Cortana, we focused on getting some basics working beautifully on Xbox and we will build on that foundation for future releases. This means that while gamers will be able to use Cortana to navigate their Xbox One dashboard like
Home, Achievements and the Game Collection, they won’t be able to use Cortana to navigate within (some) apps. They’ll be able use Cortana to launch the app, and (if the app supports it) use Cortana to play or pause video playback or search for content within
the app, but they won’t be able to issue voice commands specific to that app (for example “Move Next” or “Select Three”).

We are working hard to make this functionality available to our app partners in a future update, so stay tuned for future announcements on our speech journey.
