    OK today i changed my xbox 360 gametag and when i go to my xbox to play a game my xbox live account the one xbox gave me does not let me sign in to xbox live it gives me a screen that says could not connect to xbox live download again and my name is not
    changed

    Just to clarify you'd be playing on the Xbox 360? It's just you have a PSN name in your sig and the guitars I have are for 360.

    How many times have you changed your gamertag?

    Once by technicality, I had one name back during Xbox original, a new name when I came to Xbox 360 as the old name was taken.

    1. Delete your profile from the console, be sure to delete only the profile, to do so check this link:

    support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete

    2. Clear the console cache, see this link for the how to:
    support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

    3. Turn the console off.

    4. Turn the console on.

    5. Clear the console cache one more time

    6. Redownload your profile. (See link from 1.)

    On my Mac, I can go into sharing and give my computer a unique name on my network

    On the XBONE, in settings there is a similar option.

    On an iOS product, you can chang the name right in iTunes.

    So there is no way to change it in the NXE?

    atm I don't know what new guidlines you mean ? Could you share a link ?

    All I know is that new guidlines didn't change old gamertags. I for example had a Gt that had more than 12 characters and I wasn't forced to change it and it wasn't shortened to 12 when the 12 characters limit came up.
