Xbox 360 money locked in child's account

My 8 year old has money in his Xbox 360 account, but when he want to get even a demo, error message says 'must have Xbox live to make this purchase'. I as the adult account holder with Xbox live account get no notification. If I try to register him one he gets signed out and after inputting his first name error says cannot use this name?! What is going on? His money is effectively unusable!

Anyone help?.

It would be best to get both the accounts checked by the online team to see if there are any issues with the Microsoft account or the Xbox profile. To do so, access Contact us | Xbox Support. Follow the instructions after clicking on the green button "Contact us" and choose to get help either from an online chat agent or request a callback. Make sure the region on the support website is set to your correct region in order not to find issues with the steps.

Go to Xbox.com and register him on there then you can download the profile to the console.

This is exactly what happened to me! I transferred money from my Paypal to my child's Microsoft account for this, and now the money are locked there? Unbelievable! How do I get my money back?

hi, there the xbox will only lock your account to a child if you entered a child date of birth.
