    xbox 360 modem?


    Xbox 360 has lost connection to Xbox live gold.

    I have been through every step I can find to fix it even contacting Xbox support.

    Have completely reset Xbox and formatted hard drive, Problem persists
    error message 8C15009.
    (this seems to be internet connection Error)

    This problem turned up suddenly and has not changed no matter what steps I have taken. I have done everything I could find posted on the net.

    I have noticed one thing that seems strange.

    I have tested every device I have with a ping test. One device at a time.

    The Xbox 360 scores only 25% of the speed of all other devices, regardless of using
    Wired or Wi-Fi it is 75% slower then all my other devices connected to the internet.

    This leads me to suspect my Xbox 360 network adapter maybe failing.

    I am asking the question could this be my problem? Do these network adapter
    fail in this way. I have never had a adapter failure before.

    Is their any tests I can do on the network adapter on the Xbox to check its working correctly?

    Hello Jack,

    Sorry to hear about issue with the 360. To answer your question, yes network adapters can fail. As to what degree it all varies. There are also other factors that determine speed. Like distance to the modem, any other devices in between the 360 and modem,
    etc. Have you rebooted the router, cleared network settings on the Xbox 360 then try and reconnect.
    To reset network settings go to Settings>System>Network settings>select if wired or wireless>Configure network>Additional settings>restore to factory default. This will clear network settings on the console so will get fresh connection.

    Thanks for the reply.

    It doses look like the network adapter, just wish I could pull it out and test another one like you can on a computer.

    I have taken all the steps you mentioned. All the tests I ran with the other devices were in the same place as the Xbox.

    All setting were reset to default. Hard drive formatted, cache cleared. Been at it for 2 weeks.

    Using ping tests it is 75% slower then anything else I connect to the internet. Must be the adaptor.

    I will now google/Bing and see if their is another way to connect an external adaptor and disable the internal adaptor.

    Don't like my chances as all the adaptors I have ever use need drives to be installed.

    When does this error happen? When you try and sign in? When you try and start a party? when you try to join Multiplayer game?

    Have you changed your gamertag recently?

    I have no problems with signing into account.

    The Problem is Xbox gold will not work, cannot download or use games that require it such as multiplayer.

    On the Xbox I cannot log into the account as I get error 8C15009 or something about site unavailable.

    Checking account by PC it is working perfectly everything great. Cannot down load a Free gold game to Xbox.

    This is why I believe it is a Adaptor Problem. I an thinking the adaptor has failed and reduced the Bit rate so low that Gold will not work but the normal Xbox operations using Xbox live work fine.

    Doing the Broadband ping test on the Xbox gets me anywhere from .8Mbps to 1.5Mbps were using the broadband ping on PC, iPad and android phone using the same internet connection I am getting 8Mbps. it makes no difference using wired
    or Wi-Fi connection.

    Used a Wi-Fi analyse tool and my network is humming along, no interference.

    I spent a couple of hours with online tech support 3 days ago and they could not find the error. Said they would get back to me in 24hrs but so far I have not heard from them.

    Everything has been working fine for over a year. This just happened suddenly. No warnings. Still pointing to Adaptor failure!!

    .

    1. Disconnect the console for 2 minutes and reconnect the console's power cable. This will help remove the power from the brick (surge protector) and shut down all the internal components.
    2. Reconnect your console's power cable.
