    Xbox 360 Microphone not working


    Hi. I have a plug-in headset for Xbox 360 for which the microphone does not work. (The headphones work but I can't speak)

    I have tried multiple headsets on multiple controllers and I can hear but not speak.

    When I unplug and re-plug the headset into the controller the speaker icon blips like its making sound for a second but then i still can't speak - neither during gameplay nor in messages to friends.

    When I go to my system settings to mute/unmute I don't have the option to mute or unmute.

    The "family" settings are disabled.

    I'm fairly certain that the xbox software is current as I'm on live all the time. I just tried to update the software by plugging in a USB flash drive with the files (support faq says the update will begin automatically and it does not do so, so i assume its
    updated?)

    what do I do?

    Same problem here. Tried all the aforementioned solutions-no luck. Also no mute option for me in preferences. What's going on?

    Can I connect Microphone with XBOX 360?

    Hello,

    Not any Microphone will work with the XBOX 360 via USB. You need to have one that actually works with the XBOX 360 system and doesn't require any sort of drivers to be installed.

    I have used the MadKatz Rockband 3 USB Microphone (It works with both the XBOX 360 and the PS3), I also have a Lips microphone which works as well. But as I said, not all wireless microphones will work so your better off getting one that's proven to work. Just
    search online in some retailers to see if it works with Rock Band 3 on the XBOX 360.

    Make sure that the volume level is set correctly and that the volume is not muted in the Personal Settings area. To do this, follow these steps:

    Press the Xbox Guide button on the Xbox 360 controller.

    Scroll right to Settings.

    Select Preferences.

    Select Voice.

    Make sure that the Mute option is not selected. To turn off the Mute option, select Mute, and then press the A button.

    Increase the volume. To do this, select the volume bar, and then press the D-pad or the left stick."

    I don't have this option "Mute" under the Voice menu...

    Also worth noting: I have 3 mics and 3 headsets. No combination of any of them is giving me any other results... There's no way all the mics and/or all the controllers are suddenly on the fritz
