    XBOX 360 Microphone Audio Dropouts

Problem - the audio from my mic and other friends mics drops out during game play.

    System - XBOX360

Game - any game, in party chat and game chat.

Headset - I've tried two wired Microsoft headsets (to a wireless controller) and one after-market wired headset. I have also tried a wired controller and wired headset.

The microphone audio will be good for a few minutes and then it will drop out. It often drops out mid sentence. Sometimes I can hear them and they can't hear me. Sometimes I can't hear them and they can hear me. Sometimes we can't hear each other. Usually
there is no easy (or repeatable) way to get the audio back. We've tried rebooting, unplugging the headset and plugging it in again, turning the controller on and off, clicking the mute button on and off, leaving and rejoining the party, and every other thing
we can think of... on their machines and mine. The problem happens regularly and at least 5 times a gaming session. The problem is not limited to one player but... I don't know if the problem happens when I am not playing.

I have set up my modem/router to open all of the ports that Microsoft suggests. I have tried a fixed IP address and a dynamic one. I am using a wired connection to the internet, not a wireless one but I have tried both. I am the only one of the players I
play with that has done this. All of the rest are too afraid to play with the settings on their equipment. None of the cables are damaged and all of the connections are good (on my end for sure).

There have been times when I have tried to send a voice message to someone and they receive a message of the correct length but with no audio.

Some of the problems I'm having point to hardware issues (and that's why I bought the other headsets) and some point to network or software related issues. At first I thought it might have been related to the microphone not being sensitive enough but it
doesn't matter how close to my mouth or how loud I talk.

This is actually the third XBOX360 I've had (the other two had red ring issues) and all three have had the same audio drop out problem. I've also had three different routers and the one I'm using now is a cable modem/router supplied by my cable company.

I don't have any other issues, video problems or network problems.

I also have an XBOX One but I am the only one of my gaming friends that has one so I don't know if it's a 360 only problem or not. The XBOX One does have occasional echo problems but to solve that I have to reboot the console and it only seems to happen
with Forza 5 on-line game play. I haven't researched that problem yet.

I haven't been able to find anyone else asking questions about this (XBOX360 microphone dropout issue) so I don't think it's a common problem.

Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?

    Thanks

    :)

XBox One: Screen turns black / loses sound for 1-2 seconds while Game / Video continues playing in background

Not had this problem with the Xbox One yet however i did have this problem with my 360, have you tried changing your HDMI cable as with my 360 it turned out that my HDMI cable had become faulty and was causing the same audio and visual dropouts like you
    described
