Hi could someone please tell me how I can connect my Xbox 360 console to my W10 PC for media access?

I'm only just starting to use the xbox again after I attempted to set it up with Windows Media Centre only to find that it doesn't exist anymore! I even tried connecting to Windows Media Player but without any success therefore I would really appreciate
it if somebody could let me know what I'm meant to do.

Btw I have a microsoft account which I am signed into on the xbox.

Ok, exactly what are you looking towards being able to do? With Win 10 more of the app are geared for the newer generation of xbox systems.

I thought I mentioned why in the initial question i posted.. Media access.

Btw not everyone has the available financial resources to buy the latest console, software, PC, games etc etc although I'm pretty damn sure everyone wants it!

That said, surely there is a way to connect the two? Maybe with a different version or media player...?

I believe that between win 7 and 8.1 the media player became obsolete, and most of the apps in win 10 are not compatible with the 360 which a lot of people still using them are finding out. The best solutions have already been given to you but it sounds
like something on your pc is preventing them from working try this link to see if it will help. Fix

Connect Windows 7/8/10 to Xbox 360
To connect a Windows 7/8/10 PC to your Xbox (that does not have Windows Media Center), follow the steps below.

1. Click on Start, then Control Panel, then Network and Internet.

2. Click on HomeGroup and Sharing Options.

3. Then click on Change advanced sharing settings.

4. Scroll down to Media Streaming and click on Choose media streaming options. The option may be located under All Networks.

5. Go ahead and click on Turn on media streaming. Here you can then give your media library a name and choose what to share.

6. Click OK and then click Save changes on the Advanced sharing settings page. This will get you back to the HomeGroup screen. Here you want to check the Stream my pictures, music, and videos to all
devices on my home network.

Now you can follow the same steps on your Xbox 360 to access your media stored on a Windows 7/8/10 PC.

Hi Tina,

With so many changes with windows several older windows apps have become obsolete that are compatible with the 360 systems.

Hi I've just read your reply briefly as I'm out at the moment and I know that it's definitely not being blocked by any other programs on my PC. But when I get back home in a while I'll try the other suggestion and hopefully it'll be OK...! 😏
