Xbox 360 Media Center Extender Libraries

So.. this might come as a shock to most, but I've just recently after 9 years set up my 360 as a Media Center Extender. Connection went perfectly between both my PC and my 360. I got my libraries set up on my PC and populated. I can see and view/play all
the media I have told it to see. My issue is with my 360... It just keeps telling me it's populating my libraries in the background and to wait. How long? Should it be immediately? What am I missing. Please help. For reference my PC is running Windows 7 home
premium and is an HP pavilion media center branded PC. Although I'm not sure it matters because both devices see and talk to each other, it just library population I'm asking about. Thanks.

    :)

Confirmed: No Media Centre Extender... No Backwards Compatibility... No Deal.

Wow , no Windows Media Center Extender capability, this is nuts. The Xbox 360 works as a Media center Extender, and so did the Original XBOX. But not the NEXT GENERATION console. What a joke, whats next ?

To remove an existing xp account

how to play videos from pc to xbox

Go to windows Media Player, Then go to tool> Options, from options go Library , then click on configure sharing. Under Sharing settings Click the box that says "share media to" and make sure your Xbox 360 is allowed. And then you should be set. You can also
use Windows media Center. you have to have both xbox and your computer on so they can connect. go to window media center on your xbox 360 and it will give you a code. Now go to your PC and run windows media Center, There should be a Icon that says Extender.
Add extender and enter the 4 digit code that your xbox gives you. Now your xbox and Pc will connect to each other Via wireless. And you should be good to go.

Media Center and XBOX wont work - windows 7

My PC is Windows 7 Home Edition, My Xbox and PC are both on a wireless connection, I managed to connect the Media Center just fine, The way I did this is following the step by step instructions on connecting them together. Please double check these instructions
and see if you missed a step or maybe by mistake did something wrong.

First to be on the safe side do this.

    •Click Start, Windows Media Center.

    •Select Task, Settings.

    •Select Extender.

•Select your Xbox 360 Media Center Extender.

    •Select Uninstall.

If you cant find the Xbox 360 Media Center Extender then you may not have it installed yet. After checking this step please try the following.

Gather Setup Key from Xbox 360

•Press the Media Center Start button on the remote or go to My Xbox, then select Windows Media Center.

•Advance through the on-screen instructions to obtain the 8-digit Media Center Setup Key. Write this key down.

    Add Extender

•At the Windows Vista or Windows 7 Media Center PC, launch Windows Media Center. Select Start, Windows Media Center.

    •Select Tasks, Add Extender.

•When prompted, provide the 8-digit setup key you received from your Xbox 360.

    •Complete the Extender setup.

This is the exact way that I have installed the media center using a Wireless connection to both systems and having Windows 7. I am however not sure if network discovery has anything to do with this on your PC.

Where is Microsoft Windows Media Center?

MS clearly stated months ago that there would be no media center extender functionality. Only option is to connect a 360 as an extender via the TV in a HDMI port.

    Example: http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/17161/article/xbox-one-not-a-native-media-center-extender/ Yeah sucks.

Smartglass for Xbox 360 cannot connect to console

I'll add that the XBox 360 is being used as a Media Center Extender (and works well). Could the inability of Smartglass (XB360 version) to find the console be related to Media Center ?
