Xbox 360 live sign up failure

I am trying to get a gold account for my 11 year old son. He signs into his account then it asks me to sign into my account as the parent paying. All that goes fine. It asks for my billing address and credit card. All goes OK. Then after confirming all that
it just says sign up not available try again later. We have tried several times with exactly same error. His console is online with no connection issues. Please can someone help as he's desperate to play online with his friends.

Anyone else unable to sign into xbox live when playing the 360 games?

When pressing both the Menu and View buttons to bring up the mini guide it just says connect to xbox live.

360 and One on same gold account

If I sign in to Xbox Live on my Xbox One, will I also be able to sign in on the same account on my 360 at the same time? Say someone is using the Xbox One in the living room and I'm playing my 360 in my bedroom. Will I be able to use the same account?

WHITTEN: Yes this works! You'll be able to be signed on with the same gamertag on both an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One console at the same time. However, like today, you can only be signed into one Xbox 360 and one Xbox One at a time

That must be disappointing for your son. All I can suggest is that you ensure your personal details on the account / console match that of your card. This seems to create the most hiccups in signing up for Gold.

You could always try to sign up online at xbox.com and see if that overcomes your issues. Though signing up online can cause a slight delay in being able to access Gold. Not a big delay - some go through instantly some a little longer.

Yes it was a huge problem in the beginning of the 360's life. I went through 4 myself. It was very frustrating. BUT over the lifetime of the 360 console the failure rate has dropped and PS3 and 360 have nearly the same failure rate.

You can start by unplug your modem/router (wait 5 min before reconnect).

Make sure you have the latest firmware for your modem/router. Visit the manufacturers website and download it from there.
