  1. Xbox 360 is slow when connected to Internet

My Internet went out earlier, and when I turned on my Xbox 360, the system was lightning fast. I have been cursing my Xbox 360 since the day that the "New Xbox Experience" update was intoduced because I believed that it was too much for the Xbox 360 processors
to handle. I don't know why the stupid machine goes at a snails pace when connected to the Internet. I don't want to permanently keep it offline because I enjoy some of the online features (MP gaming and Netflix), but the time it takes just to boot up the
system is driving me insane, let alone navigating the menus on the dashboard. Yes, my Internet speed is lower than average (especially my upload speed), but once I have a game loaded up, my speed is fast enough that I do not have any problems with lag. Why
would Internet speed have anything to do with the speed of menu navigation anyways?

    :)

  3. Xbox 360 Slim is incredibly slow when connected to Internet

Hi there, So the other day my Xbox was running great as per usual but then after coming home from the gym, it became Incredibly slow. It took over 7 minutes to get from turning it on, to finally signing in but while during signing it, it disconnects me
from Xbox Live then when I reach the dashboard I get the message "Some Xbox Live content is temporarily unavailable." I test my connection and it completes successfully with out it being slow or any errors. I have cleared system cache, deleted my profile and
redownloaded it, rebooted my router, took apart my Xbox and cleaned out dust and yet nothing. It only works when I disconnect it from Internet. Do I need a new wifi adapter or what? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

... because it constantly downloads data (sales, promos, adverts, the entirety of the marketplace, etc., etc., etc.) from the internet. Get a better quality internet connection and you'll be fine.

  5. Hey there,

    Welcome to the forums

    .

Visage is right. When you connect to the Xbox Live Network, you are downloading adverts and your profile is constantly updating with what your friends are doing ect..

    .

However, you could try ant test your Internet connection and see if that helps

  6. It shouldn't have to download data when I navigate menus. Why does it take 20 seconds to open the "my games" folder when I'm connected to xbox live? Everything in that folder is local, and Internet speed should have nothing to do with it.

Also, I can't watch the promo videos on xbox live. They play for three seconds, then buffer for five seconds. I do not experience this problem when watching Netflix in HD nor Youtube. All streaming videos on my computer work fine as well. My Internet
speed is not that slow. My download speed is 6mb/s, but my upload speed is only 0.5mb/s.

  7. Typically, a download speed of 6mb/s is the bare minimum nowadays for any sort of online activity, particularly when it comes to gaming. 10mb/s and up is typically what you want to shoot for, for example mine is typically around 30mb/s.

What Visage said is exactly right, however. When you are offline, you will notice that your menus are all basically blank, green squares. When you're online, you get previews and ads for various content. With a 6mb/s connection, even downloading those ads
and such takes up quite a bit of bandwidth.

When you open up the "My Games" folder, and it takes a moment to load, I would imagine that's because it's double checking your licenses. I will say however, that sometimes accessing the "My games" folder takes a moment even with my connection, simply because
I have quite a few games and the system is trying to compile the collection. The Xbox is no different from a computer, in that aspect. Even when a computer is not connected to the internet, sometimes it takes a while to open a folder that has a lot in it.

As for watching the videos, that really just sounds like it has to do with your connection.

Perhaps you could consider turning off automatic sign in on your console, or simply keeping your xbox disconnected from the internet until you are ready to play online.

    I hope this helps!

Download speeds not the same as what they appear to be

On Xbox One I had recent problems in relation to this issue, it was downloading very slow, discouraging and my internet is good, then it normalized, but the problem I really have is with the 360, it is a slow that even with the direct connection cable
on console does not solve, downloading gold games on 360 takes forever.
