Xbox 360 - internal HD

At first I think that the problem is in your internal reading slot of the external Xbox 360 HD, it would be interesting if you could test another external HD to see if it also does not read when inserted in the internal reader of the Xbox 360.

360 HD's from 20GB up to 320GB. Unfortunately, it does not list a diamond in the rough: the 20GB XBox360S internal HD. It only lists the external 20GB HD for the White 360, that cannot play/save games on the slim version. So, as a last-ditch effort, I went
to Amazon.com again and typed in "XBox360S HD" (key letter is S), and voila, the very first item listed was exactly what I was looking for, the internal 20GB HD for the slim, and it's brand new, authentic, and only for about $25 including shipping. Now I can
finally play original XBox games. And by the way, if you are wondering, the 20GB HD does say "Microsoft" on the right-hand side of the screen when you are on the storage device list. Case closed, question answered! Just remember to login with your live ID

The internal HDD installed that you saying is this:

The HDD 4gb is right inside and I think it is not removable.

Not all games allow you to install content to USB or internal console memory (the 4Gb Xbox 360 consoles). Games like BF3 and MoH Warfighter for example, you can not install the HD content onto a USB as it can't stream the information fast enough for the
game. So trying to install the HD content will give you errors that you have no HDD to install to.

So for the full experience an Xbox 360 with internal HDD will be what you need.

Yes, it`s normal. Some Xbox 360 models (E and S) come without HD and with 4GB of internal flash memory.
