xbox 360: how to get sound with a speaker when using an HDMI projector?

here that show how to connect the console via an Optical Audio cable. Basically you either way to connect your Xbox to an A/V Receiver and Speakers via Optical Audio or your projector might also have a 3mm jack where you can connect speakers.

The Xbox One is hooked up to a projector. I tried running the red and white audio wires from the projector and then directly to the speakers. I do not have it hooked up to a TV. I am using a projector with a screen on the wall. Still no sound from the
home theater speakers, there is sound coming out of the projector.

My problem is specific to HDMI. One of my displays is a projector, so direct connecting HDMI to it will never produce sound, it doesn't have any speakers. The preferred setup would be running the xbox through my receiver via hdmi, and allowing my receiver
to send the video signal, via hdmi, to the projector. Like how all of my other equipment works. For about a year and a half, I've had problems with HDCP errors on this xbox (that weren't there previously with the same equipment). I've replied to other threads
on these forums about the specific HDMI issues for DVD and netflix, and sent PM to someone named Mister Darcy from the support forum who asked specific questions about my setup.

On my Samsung TV model LN46D550, which had the HDMI HDCP errors, using any of 4 HDMI cables, directly connected, I did get sound if I turned off display auto detect, and set the xbox to stereo sound only. That was the only way I got ANY sound - game, menu,
etc. The xbox could not correctly use display detect (it thought it was hooked up via DVI, not HDMI - hence no sound) Xbox music gave me sound - but didn't play netflix or DVD's. Xbox set to 1080p. Display is HDCP compliant and had the latest firmware.

On my Benq W500 projector running at 720p (same xbox as above, display resolution set to 720p) xbox detect display works, and 5.1 audio works (when going through the receiver, the projector has no speakers) I get no dvd, no netflix, and no audio during xbox
music. tried 3 different HDMI cables, and also direct connected the xbox to the projector, just to check (obviously can't check the sound, but I checked the DVD/netflix errors). Other HDCP equipment works fine in this setup.

For Xbox music videos, I can see the video, just can't hear the sound. For music tracks, I get the screen saver visuals, and can see the track timer advancing, but have no sound.

Xbox music pass works on my Nokia 710 phone, so I assume the license is working fine.

Unfortunately using component or composite cables isn't a viable option with my setup. That's why I purchased the xbox with HDMI. Watching DVDs and HDDVDs back in 2010 worked fine on this xbox. I know the DVD/netflix stuff isn't specific to xbox music, but
I think it all might be related.

I'm certain because it happens whenever I don't have my HDMI switch on the 360 input when I boot the 360. Once switched in my Yamaha sound projector completes the HDMI handshake and the 360 completes booting.

So sound works using the TV normally but when you power on the 360, there is no sound?

- Plug the HDMI into a different source port on the TV

- Try a new HDMI cable

- Re-check settings on both TV and the 360 (for example, I use a sound bar so I have to turn off the TV speakers whenever I want to use the 360, otherwise double sound)
