Xbox 360 Hard drive problems

When I played my Fallout 3 yesterday (During the time this post was written) my Xbox worked fine, hard drive had no problems, completely problem free. But today (During the time this post was being written) It tells me my Hard drive is unformatted, naturally
I attempted a format to see if that will work, it went through the whole process but then showed the same hard drive saying it was unformatted. This is a completely random occurrence and nothing I do seems to work, now my Xbox is slower than my old windows
2000 desktop and nothing works, it's an original Xbox 360 by the way. I'm hoping there's some way to fix this without completely replacing the entire system. If anyone can help me I'd be very grateful

Cannot play games from HDD... most of the time

Here you can troubleshoot your Xbox Hard Drive problems.
support.xbox.com/.../hard-drive Maybe you should replace the hard drive and this time use the correct hard drive for the console rather than modding an older one.

Sometimes this issue is caused by the placement of the HHD. Try to take of your HHD and replace it again making sure of it's connection.

I attempted that, even giving it a few days rest, nothing has changed. Sadly I believe the entire system got hit with a virus or something and thus I will have to replace the system.

Some of my friends are having the same problem with the 20GB hard drive and an original XBOX 360 but my other friends with an original XBOX 360 with a 60GB hard drive and up do not have this problem... I assume it's the hard drive?

Hello,

This problem usually occurs when you have an Xbox 360 hard drive that is not genuine. This can happen if this Xbox 360 hard drive was purchased from a place like eBay or Amazon Marketplace and it was not an original Xbox 360 hard drive.

Only hard drives manufactured by Microsoft in their packaging have the emulation files needed to play original Xbox games. The hard drives that are purchased from eBay / Amazon Marketplace are usually fake/knock off hard drives which can only play Xbox 360
games.

you can take the hard drive from one console to another no problem.

There is only restriction to this... the only way you can use the hard drive from the old style XBOX 360 on the new "SLIM" 360 is the following:

Using a USB transfer kit, you can plug the old style xbox hard drive into the new SLIM XBOX. You can then transfer stuff to the new XBOX. Note that in this setup, you can't use the old style hard drive for anything other than transferring stuff over.

If both XBOX 360 are the old style, there is no problem, just pop the hard drive off one 360 and plug it into the other one.

Note that disassembling the hard drive unit (to take the bare drive out) is not supported, and is a terms of use violation.

I am having the same problem on xbox 360 i had it on my hard drive and external hard drive and it does the same thing

This problem could be a number of things:

1 size of hard drive like 20gig and so one. You cant put data on the hard drive if the number of gigs on the is larger than the game data.

2. Your hard drive one the xbox 360 is damaged.where you can get a 360 hard drive at gamestop for cheap.

I hope this infromation helps your problem. Worst case you get a new 360 hardrive at game stop
