Xbox 360 hard drive corruption solutions

Greetings all. I wanted to get a new Xbox 360, my old Elite from 2010 had seen better days and I wanted to pass it along to my younger siblings. So, I purchased a brand new Halo Reach console (yes, in 2015) off eBay. When I got it in the mail, the console
was perfect. Brand new, no issues, still sealed, just as if I were to buy it day 1.

I should have expected a problem, but I didn't. I got a transfer cable and moved all my savegames to my new Xbox. Then, I went to connect to Live for a system update. Update went as normal, Xbox restarted and I was met with a RDoD and an E64 error. I opened
the side panel to try to take out and reinsert the drive, and found it overly difficult to get out. I got it out (with some trying) and reinstalled it. Still same error. Purchased a new drive, and the Xbox demanded to put in the drive that had the update content
on it (which didn't seem to be working). So I got a new Xbox instead, and attempted to get my save games off it. I plugged in the drive with the transfer cable and the Xbox didn't read it. I swapped out the new drive in the new Xbox with the drive from the
Reach Xbox, and it provided an E64 error.

Obviously it's a hardware problem with the drive. Getting a new drive for the Reach Xbox didn't work, that thing is a brick. [Mod removed] said they wouldn't do anything with it since it was out of warranty even though I just opened it. Even if they did
fix it, it would do nothing for my save games (200+ hrs of Skyrim aren't going down the drain that easily sir).

[Mod removed] I have no idea what to do about this, but I need to salvage those saves. It had everything from 100% completion AC2 and Brotherhood to Skyrim and Fallout. Anyone run into this problem before and know how to fix it?

    :)

    Got this error code: 4099-0000-D080-0200-8007-045D

    Greetings!

This is a possible corruption on the hard drive. Try step "4" as per Mister Cerb's post and download your profile to USB drive (configure to use with the Xbox 360). You may also consider this solution, with the hard drive safely removed from the Xbox, while
you try download profile from LIVE to USB drive. Then move profile from USB to hard drive.

Post back and let us know how that goes.

Xbox 360 hard drive corruption solutions

Even if you were to plug your drive in, it wouldn't be recognized Windows as it runs custom firmware. Honestly, I can't advise any first party (Microsoft) solutions, because there's nothing left to do that isn't against Microsoft's TOS, and unfortunately
that's all that these forums can be used for. If your drive is pooched the it's pooched. I guess this is the part where a Microsoft tech will tell you to use cloud storage...because that system works so perfectly, right?

Help. audio issue, music transfer, and dissapearing saved game info

    Hello Tyra,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. Based on the issues you are experiencing, I'm thinking that the issue lies in a corrupted hard drive. Whenever a 360 console starts to act up, it is usually a bad hard drive or the hard drive is going bad.

For solutions, you can try searching your hard drive for corrupted content. Go into your Xbox 360 storage and go into every category and sub category. Corrupted content will have a yellow Exclamation point next to it (!). Delete corrupted content from your
    storage.

You may also want to consider getting a new hard drive for your console. Can you let us know a few things? What type of Xbox 360 do you have? What kind of hard drive are you using, and how much storage is there?

    Hope to hear back soon.

Connects to Live then disconnects 5-10 minutes later - 80151904

Could you check your hard drive for corrupted contents. Corrupted contents is shown as an yellow exclamation mark.

If its possible, could you try a solution with the
    hard drive safely removed
and have a USB flash drive (configured for use with the Xbox 360) plugged in to a USB port on the front of your console, as an alternative storage device.

Start your console with only USB as the storage device. Download profile from LIVE and try play a game and let us know how that goes.
