Xbox 360 Games requiring Internal Hard drive over 2 TB Xbox Storage Unit

I have 2 Xbox 360 Slims across country from one another.

When I travel I used to lug one of the internal 250GB drives and just pop it in to use it. But one of the 2 drives (I have 2 because of the 2 different Xboxs) red rings, the other one works fine as a replacement though. However, incase the other drive red
rings, I sought out a 2 TB Xbox 360 / Xbox One Storage Unit. I have been using that for a while now without any problems until now.

I'm at one of the two houses and the Xbox 360 Slim here does not have the old internal drive inside it. Not a problem because I have one 8x the size that connects via USB cable… however, I plug it in and the Xbox does not recognize it as a Xbox 360 Hard
drive, not as a Formated Xbox 360 Hard drive. The Xbox refuses to allow me to use it as my "Official Xbox 360 Storage" unit unless I wipe the 2 TB hard drive. I got around this with an old USB that had about 9GB left. I made the smaller one my "Official" storage
and decided I would just select the 2 TB hard drive to use for games. It does not allow this, I can sign in on my account that is on the 2 TB but not access saves, games, etc. I backed out, removed the USB from being my "Official" hard drive and read the options
    more.

It mentions I can use up to 32GB of the 2 TB hard drive as my "Official" drive, but that any other information on the 2 TB drive would become inaccessible.

However, it continues to whine and require a Xbox 360 Hard drive to runmost games, only one that runs is Halo Reach.

I'm stuck in a loop, I can get some games with low storage requirement updates to run, but I can't get bigger games like Destiny or downloaded games like Chivalry to run. (Destiny needing more than 10GB of updates which are already downloaded on the 2 TB
drive and downloaded games being the ones also on the 2 TB drive)

How do I fix this? Can this be fixed? Do I have to try and trick the console?

    :)

Updating Xbox after a month or 2 of not playing

    From the Support page at:

    support.xbox.com/.../system-update-help.aspx

A storage device (memory unit or hard drive) was not found during the software update. Follow these steps:

    1. Turn off your console.

    2. Remove all console storage devices, including any USB flash drives, external hard drives, or the internal hard drive on the Xbox 360 S console. Learn how to remove the hard drive.

    3. Add your primary storage device, for example, the hard drive.

    4. Turn on the console

    5. Try updating the console again.

    Storage issue

    Hello,

It’s most likely that your Xbox is attempting to install on your internal hard drive instead of your external 2 TB hard drive. To fix this, do the following on your xbox.

Settings>Storage>Select Your 2 TB drive>Install here by default

After you do this, any game you install will automatically install to the 2 TB hard drive. If this helped, please vote that is was!

    Good luck and happy gaming!

Hard Drive for 1st edition 360

When the console was first released there were two models, a 'Core' and a 'Premium'. The Core Xbox had no internal memory and at the time required a memory unit to save games. The Premium model came with a 20GB hard drive.

Later MS released the 'Arcade' Xbox 360. This model first came with 256MB internal storage, later models had 512MB. Since the Premium and the later Elite models came with a hard drive, they had no internal storage.

The New Slim machine comes in two flavours a 4GB machine that, as the name suggest, has 4GB of internal storage, while the 250GB model has a hard drive. The 250GB machines have no internal storage.

Can I Install Games on a USB?

I'm sorry you're having problems with your game, unfortunately Oblivion requires a hard drive to install the DLC. It won't work from a flash drive or your 360's internal storage. Your 4GB consoles storage is flash memory, it's not a hard drive. Oblivion
is an old game, it does not recognise dlc on memory units, only hard drives.

To install Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition disk 2, can I put on flash drive or xbox flash drive.

Sorry to hear it. The 360 can now use an external hard drive up to 2 TB in size. However, if a game requires the use of an official Xbox 360 hard drive then there is no workaround for that.

Which Xbox One Should I Get- 500gb or 1tb

I have the 500GB internal hard drive; mine is an older unit, with a 1 TB external hard drive for the games. For a media center, I have 2 networked 6 TB hard drives (that are not connected to the console directly) and have accessed the network drive to the
    console.

The advantages of having an external drive is you are not limited to a specific size of drive. As long as it meets the USB3 port, it can be used as a game hard drive.
