Xbox 360 games not updating on the Xbox One

I have a few Xbox 360 games installed on my Xbox One. Once the games were ready to play I restarted my consol then launched them where I was prompted to update the games. However once I begin the update I receive a message saying "There was a problem with
the update". Trying again yields nothing and testing the network connection does just that and yields nothing.

I have already exausted all troubleshooting options but the Offline System Diagnosic Tool or sending it back for a new one.

This Xbox One is brand new, just got it for Christmas. If this issue persists then I've wasted my time installing these old games and money for buying them with the expectation that they would work on the Xbox One. I'm begining to regret even buying the
whole system itself considering it's been nothing but trouble for the last 12 hours.

It would help me to know if anyone else is experiencing this, if Microsoft is aware of this problem and if there is a solution on the way or handy.

Thanks for your post! Do you mind clarifying which Xbox device you are using? Are you using Microsoft edge on the Xbox One? Or Internet Explorer on the Xbox 360?

I am having the exact same problem 12-26-2015 at 7:45 PM. I am up to the Offline System Diagnostic Tool also. This is extremely disappointing.

Hey all.

Sorry you're having trouble with a game update. To clarify, are you getting an error code along with the error message? What steps have you all tried? If you have tried uninstalling the game completely and reinstalling it please give that a go. Thanks!

Xbox 360 backwards compatible games have been reverse engineered and converted to the play on the Xbox One platform. This is why, even if you own an Xbox 360 game on disc that is on the BC list, the Xbox One prompts you to download an update. In the case
of Xbox 360 disc games, the 'update' is the game. Due to the conversion, the download size of the game will be slightly different compared that on a 360 console. This normal.

So Minecraft on your Xbox 360 has not got the latest update. If the game needs an update, the Xbox 360 will check for one before the game starts and will ask you to update it or automatically do it (depending on your setting) if there is one available.

It has always been like that not unless there will be an update regarding in redeeming Xbox 360 games with gold on the website. Xbox 360 marketplace has a different structure than on Xbox One Store. Xbox 360 games with gold on the website will need a payment
method. In Xbox 360 console, you won't need one. Currently, you can't redeem Xbox 360 games with gold using Xbox One console and still under progress about redeeming Xbox 360 games with gold on Xbox One console. Either get the games using an Xbox 360 console,
or get the games on the website with a payment method.

Xbox 360 and original Xbox games technically aren't being emulated. The games were reverse engineered to run on the Xbox One. They are, for all intents and purposes, Xbox One games running inside an Xbox 360/original Xbox virtual machine. They're not 'emulated' in the traditional sense.

This is why when you insert a BC 360 Xbox game, there is an update to download. This is not an update, it is the full game recoded to run on the Xbox One or Series X|S consoles.
