    I bought a game that the system says requires a genuine XBox 360 hard drive to play. Is this true? Can I use an external formatted to FAT 32?

    Does your console a hard drive? An official Xbox 360 hard drive is required to play original Xbox games.

    What specific Xbox 360 console do you own? Do you have an official Xbox 360 hard drive attached? In order to play Original Xbox games on Xbox 360, you need a console with an official Xbox 360 hard drive since the software required is stored on the hard drives
    themselves. 3rd party hard drives or non-official Xbox 360 hard drives will not work.

    Some games do require an Xbox hard drive due to the system files on the drives. External hard drives will not work. They require an official MS Xbox 360 hard drive.

    The majority of games require the official Xbox 360 Harddrive.

    Not really. Only backwards compatible games and a handful of 360 games. Otherwise you really just need storage space.

    The game requires an Xbox hard drive due to the system files on the hard drive. So it's not a storage issue, it's the issue of not having an actual Xbox hard drive. The 4gb is internal flash memory and not a hard drive. Unfortunately, this is a requirement
    for some games.

    If you are using an Xbox 360, but do not have a hard drive installed, the game will not work. Xbox original games on the Xbox 360 require an Xbox 360 official hard drive to work. No there is no way around it.

    Hi, looking at the games description on the marketplace it states " (NOTE: Xbox 360 Hard Drive is required. USB Storage is not supported.) "

    It's a good idea to buy a hard drive if you can as more and more games require a hard drive these days.
