Xbox 360 game purchased, now shows up on Backwards compatible games list, i need to purchase ...

last month i bought an Xbox One (First Edition Console not S or X) and was looking in Backwards Compatibility Games, and to my Dismay, most of the games there that were able to be Backward compatible, were not even there. But now i found a game i have loved
as a child, and also have purchased on Xbox 360 and own it, however, says i need to buy it. What still seems odd to me is i can download the DLC for it, but not the full game i payed for back on 360, and with that said, i had no problem at all with downloading
the other 360 games that were up for compatibility such as Heavy Weapon, Dead Space 3, Halo Reach, And even Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night. The game in question that i'm having a problem with is Sonic Adventure 2, Battle DLC is free, But Game needs to
be Purchased again? i'm not sure if this is due to the Compatibility List being updated, or something else, but i know for a fact i bought this game on Xbox 360. Anyone else having this problem, or is it just me? I hope this gets noticed, i would hate to have
to buy it again. Is there an explanation to this, or did i miss something?

Resident evil 2

I purchased all episodes of this game for xbox 360, now it is backward compatible why do I need to purchase all episodes again. Assistance appreciated

I'm also having a problem with the backwards compatible 360 Arcade title Dead Space Ignition. I purchased that game in October of 2010. It does not show up on my Ready to Install tab. The listing for the game on the Xbox One store shows that I need to
pay for it, but the Xbox.com listing shows that I have already purchased the game. For some reason, the representative was unable to find a record of the game in my purchase history.

Hi,

Are you sure it was a digital purchase or on disc? If it was a digital download of the full game, did purchase the game on the same account you are using now? To check the purchase history of all of the games and add-on's you purchased for the Xbox 360,
you need to go there: https://live.xbox.com/download/history

If your game 'Sonic Adventure 2' is not in the list, then either you bought it originally on disc, and added the DLC to this account later, or you purchased a digital version on a different Gamertag.

If this game is showing on this list, for the same account, but not on your 'Ready to Install' list, you'll need to call Xbox Live support.

Otherwise, you will have to buy it again. Note, Xbox 360 games that are BC and on disc will also work on the Xbox One. You need to download the game when you insert a compatible disc. So even if you have to buy it again, you should be able to get a cheaper
second hand copy rather than pay full price on the Xbox Marketplace.

If the game you purchase on the Xbox 360 is backward compatible, list here https://www.xbox.com/en-gb/games/backward-compatibility?cat=xbox360 then yes, the game will show up in your library on the Xbox Series S, and you will be able to download it at no extra cost to you. If the game is not backward compatible, then no, it won't work on the Xbox Series S.

If you look at the list on the link I gave you, you will find that Eternal Sonata is not backward compatible, so the only way you can play the game is by using an Xbox 360.

Hi, the first two games on your list do not show up in the list of backward compatible titles.

Portal 2 however does show on that list. You are using the same account on your Xbox One that was used to purchase the game ?

Hi,

Backwards compatibility is built into the Xbox One at a hardware and software level, it can't be removed.

If you are unable to purchase games via the Xbox Store it's likely due to an issue with billing. I don't believe Xbox 360 games can be purchased on an Xbox One with account currency, you'll need either a Debit Card/Credit Card or PayPal to purchase these
titles. Backwards compatible games can also be purchased via the Xbox website.

Note: You don't need to buy backwards compatible games on the Store, you can also use original Xbox 360 discs. You'll still need to be connected to Live to download the Update (which is actually the game) in order to play them. The same applies to original
games on the list.

So, if you used to own an Xbox 360, own any disc games that are on the backwards compatibility list, you'll be able use these on your Xbox One.

For digitally purchased games, as long as it is on the
backward compatibility list, the game will automatically show up in the "Ready to Install" list of the Xbox One so you can install and play from there.
