XBox 360 Gain Internet Access through Sharing Sharing Connection with PC (via Ethernet)

    Hey ALL,

Question: I was wondering if it is possible for the XBOX 360 console to get internet access via a shared connection with my PC? - which I assume if possible can only be done via ethernet cable between said devices. If so how?

Problem Background: At the moment the console is downstairs about 1 - 1.5 meters from the router using an official XBox Network Adapter (Dual Antennae) and the connection is sluggish most of the time - although this could be due to the console
being near other electronic equipment. I want to move to console upstairs but I am severely limited with where I can place it - presently it looks like going near to my PC, which is not the best place for a wireless console especially one that struggles from
1 - 1.5 meters away. I don't want the hassle of taking an extremely long ethernet cable all the way from downstairs router upstairs to the console, the router has to remain in it's present location and there is no mains plug free near the router to use one
of those Poweline / Main Network Plug devices - hence the need to get internet access for the XBox from the PC if possible.

Sorry that's it is a bit long winded.

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

Can't identify ethernet from pc to xbox 360

I wanted to connect my xbox 360 to my pc to get internet access and be able to connect to xbox live. My pc is connect with wifi to my router. I put my wifi adapter settings to allow sharing. So i connected my pc to my xbox with ethernet cable but when i
test xbox live connection it says network failed. Also on my pc it cant identify the ethernet connection. It says unidentified network and its showed in public network with no internet access.

    Thanks for helping me!

  3. Internet connection sharing between a VPN laptop and an xbox one

This would depend on the type of VPN service you are using, as sharing your network may not actually share the VPN connection.

To enable Internet Connection Sharing in Windows 10, please follow the steps below: Press Windows key
+ X to open the Power User menu and select NetworkConnections. Right-click the network adapter with an Internet connection (Ethernetor
wireless network adapter), then select Properties. Click Sharing.

Then you will need to type in the details of the windows sharing connection in the Xbox. As you will not connect to the router but your windows 10 PC to access the internet now.

Very nice, organized question. However, a complex one at that. All I can recommend you do is run little to no tasks on your electronics (Even your phone uses bandwidth!), also , don't rule out the fact that your neighbor/outsiders in general could be leeching
off your connection. If you haven't already, set a password for your wifi!

Sorry if I didn't help, I tried. Thank YOU for the nicely put together question.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I have considered limiting the tasks, however the WiFi is used by others in the household for browsing and the odd video stream - but most of the time its only being used for web browsing - through either mobile or tablet so the bandwidth should not be an
    issue.

Neighbors/Outsiders are not leeching - password is set, using most secure WPA2 encryption and I check IP access occasionally for unknown MAC addresses.

Good points made however doesn't answer my initial question, but Thanks for you suggestions.

    Accepting terms of service

In circumstances like this you will need to have an PC or Laptop that will share the internet to your 360. In this case where on connection you need to accept some sort of clause you will need to use PC or Laptop that will be able to accept. Don't fret if
you have a windows machine you can use ICS (internet connection sharing) which you can use to share that connection to your 360 wireless or you can connect to the connection wireless on a laptop and share the internet via the Ethernet port.

Can I use Xbox ones WiFi to teather to Internetless pc?

as far as i know you cant use the xbox wifi to share to the pc.

If your pc has an internet connection you can either connect this via ethernet to your xbox or you can use the wifi hotspot option on your pc to share its internet connection directly to your console so you can go online.
