Xbox 360 friends on Xbox One

So i want to send a friend request to my friend with an xbox 360, but his name won't show up when I search it!

I don't know whats wrong

Xbox One friends don't automatically become Xbox 360 friends. The friendship only goes one way. Your Xbox 360 friends are your Xbox One friends but your Xbox One friends are not necessarily your Xbox 360 friends--you have to specifically add them on the
Xbox 360. That is good to know. Now I just need to figure out a way to thin the heard on Xbox 360, so to speak.

Can I Add Friends To Xbox One, But Not Xbox 360?

As we know, there is a cap of 100 friends on Xbox 360, but not on Xbox One. My Xbox 360 is largely my minecraft device and I'd like my friends on Xbox 360 to be largely Minecraft players. My Xbox One is increasingly for my general gaming .This creates a
quandry for me, since I use the same account for both. I am at my cap of 100 friends on Xbox 360 and have well over 100 friends on Xbox One. Before the Xbox One came out, if I wanted to add a friend and I was at 100 friends, I simply had to delete one friend.
Now, if I want to add someone to my Xbox 360 friends list, it seems like I can't just delete one friend on my Xbox 360, but I have to reduce my Xbox One friends list to under 100 in order to add one friend on my Xbox 360. For instance, if I have 200 friends
on Xbox One, I would have to delete 101 friends in order to add
one friend on my Xbox 360. Is that right? Is there any way around that?

I think you will need to add him using Sign in to your Microsoft account

Things have changed on the Xbox One. You can add anyone without sending a request (kind of how Twitter works) but that is not the case on Xbox 360, and that could be why this is happening. Using the link I provided you should be able to add him, and he might
show on your Xbox One (and will show if you play a backward compatible title on your Xbox One).

Please try running an Xbox360 game on your Xbox One once the game has started try pressing the View & Menu buttons together to bring up the Xbox360 mini guide and then try using the friends tab located there.

Have you tried having him send you a friend request? This is some information I was able to find. It might be worth a shot to have him send you a friend request.

Hi, yeah it will be because of the Xbox 360 friend list is full. There is nothing you can do, except remove any friends on your Xbox 360, and then invite your Xbox One friends via the Xbox 360 guide.

Adding a friend should work regardless of console. You can try to do it on the Xbox website if necessary.

Be aware however, that the Xbox 360 has a friend list limit of 100, so if you already have that many people on your friend list, you can't add that person as a friend.

Also, sending a friend request to the Xbox One doesn't show up as a "friend request". Instead, you automatically become a "follower" of that Xbox One user. Only when the Xbox One user friends you back, you are actually friends.

Also be aware, that you can't communicate from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, UNLESS the Xbox One user is playing a Xbox 360 backwards compatible game.

However, you can still use the Xbox app on a Windows 10 PC to participate in a party-chat with Xbox One users, without them being in a Xbox 360 game.
