Xbox 360 freezes when Connecting to Xbox Live

I have this problem too, but I didn't download any updates these few days. At least, I wasn't notified of it.

I am on chat with the Microsoft support and they suggested that they have some problems with the server especially on Singapore site n trying to fix it . I tried to connect to live via a game like CoD and it does allow me to play online . But freezes if
I go back to dashboard.

@MaryAmelia - If your console has connectivity to Xbox LIVE, please verify that your console's system software has been updated to the latest version,
2.0.16747.0.

Go to Settings and System. Select Console Settings and scroll down to
System Info.

From Singapore as well, hope they resolve this soon. No problem offline, but freezes as soon as I try to sign into profile.. shows how many friends on line, then ...... Bleeh......

Yeah, I'm updated to 2.0.16747.0. No idea when the update happened though. Maybe I forgot.

Hope they fix it soon.

OK ...I have solved it ....at least on all of Xbox 360 (1 x original and 2 x Kinect S). The problem is definitely at the server end and it involves login upon start-up. For those of you who have automatic login set to "on" for your Xbox Live account ....you
will get the freeze after Xbox starts-up and tries to log you in. This problem only came about after the recent update and seems to affect more Singapore Xbox base.

First thing you need to do is to NOT auto-login to your Xbox Live account. After start-up and when the Xbox logo finished spinning in ....you will get the small spinning circle that begins the loading and connecting to Xbox Live. Immediately when you see
the small spinning circle ....hit the Guide button (the big X), sign in using an account that is not Xbox Live. When you are now in the game ...here is where you can switch to Xbox Live and all should be OK. Basically, you are by passing the start-up sequence
to prevent auto-login.

Another way is to kill your network connectivity (turn off router or remove cable) ....then start-up, login to your profile and only after you have passed the start-up sequence ...go Xbox Live. Bottom line ...what you want is to always start up without login
in to Xbox Live automatically. Only do it through the game.

To prevent auto-login, you can edit the settings found under your profile called "Auto-sign in" ...set that to off. Thereafter ...you should not have the stupid freeze upon start-up cycle in future start-ups. Note, this is a work around to get pass the start-up
sequence that calls for login to Xbox Live ....once XBox sorts out whatever nonsense that is causing the problem ....things should be OK to go back to auto-login. Hope that helps some folks out there.

 

This is really stupid. This is the reason I am hating Microsoft products each day. They are very good at *** things up and very slow on their response. Never will I ever buy Microsoft products again., from PC to smartphone to game console to software. They
are a big time screw up!!,

 

I fix it by using below method, it work with my freezing in logging to dashboard with my account.

1) Power on xbox 360 and skip login to go offline mode. While in offline mode, place in game disc and startup your game. When in game , press the silver button to bring up the guide menu. It will have no problem login your account to xbox live.

2) While your account is connected to xbox live successfuly and xbox guide menu is still open, hold the right trigger (RT) and press Y button to refresh the xbox home dashboard menu.

3) Shut down and reboot

4) Try login to xbox live again but this time in the main menu and see whether it work.

I think this issue has resolved. Tested late last nite, able to login xbox live and access dashboard as usual. Can anyone else confirm. Didnt do like phix suggest, i think it has been resolve at server side.

 

my Xbox wont le me get past the grey loading screen. and when i disconnect the wifi and start the xbox back up, it does the splash logo and freezes on a black screen
